1. Putting off recommended / scheduled maintenance
2. Ignoring the “check engine” light
3. Not changing the oil, or not having it changed on time
4. Not checking tire pressure
5. Neglecting coolant, brake, transmission and other fluid services
6. Continuing to drive when the vehicle is overheating
7. Not changing fuel and air filters
8. Having unqualified shops service your vehicle
9. Using generic aftermarket parts instead of original equipment manufacturer (OEM)-quality parts
10. Trying to service your own high-tech vehicle

I would hope everyone here realizes the oil change thing was a scam and is far out dated. There was a test done on a 60 minutes or one of the other news shows like that like 10 years ago. They took some NYC cabs, changed the oil at 3k miles on half and like 10k miles on the other half. At like 100k miles they took the engines apart and found no significant difference in the state of the engines. I think this especially holds true with synthetic oils. I have used synthetic for years on all my cars. I change the filter at 5k miles and just top off the oil. Then change the oil and filter at 10k miles. I sold my '95 eclipse to my cousin when it had like 120k miles and when he took the engine apart to build it he found absolutely no wear in the cylinders.

3. Unmarked speed bumps.

4. Parking in any lot that features shopping carts.

5. Parking near any bush with red berries and a lot of birds.

6. Letting "T" be either the lead or the sweeper in a cruise.

7. Adding a Continental kit (or white walls).

8. Living in New England from December to March.

9. Responding to "Is that a Miata?" with anything but a middle finger.

Seems like the unqualified shops had a GM logo more often than not. The others listen to what I tell them from this forum's posts and advice.

Number 10 is stupid. Number 1 should be adding Autozone "port holes" to any vehicle that is not a 50's Buick, which wouldn't need them to begin with.
