Eibach Anti-Roll Bar Installation and Review

Since we are getting crazy about suspension mods here at Kappasphere, we ordered in a bunch of Eibach Anti-Roll Bar kits here in stock and had to put a set on our Sky to test them out.

We just installed these last week, so we are still learning more about these bars. Our first impression is WOW! Even on the softer setting, there is very little body roll around sharp turns. The car feels very predictable and sturdy. I drove up to Los Angeles this weekend which is known for very rough roads and expansion joints. The car felt rock solid the whole time. The wheels feel more planted to the road. I really enjoy the way the car feels now and can't wait to get some more grippy tires on her to really attack the corners.

Test car: 2007 Saturn Sky
Suspension Modifications: Kappasphere Lowering Springs (Eibach), reBAR, Eibach Anti-Roll Bars front and rear.

Anti-Roll Bar Installation Notes (Kit comes with instructions, but these might help you out more):
Skill level: 2 out of 5. Note: Might be hard to remove the rear sway bar without a proper lift. Everything else is just removing bolts. Helps to have a second set of hands to get the new bars in without scratching up the powder coating.
Time needed: 1 - 2 hours

First step, get yourself some coffee to get pumped about the installation you are about to begin.

Cade and I installed these bars with the Sky up on our lift. We removed the rear wheels so that we could get better view of everything going on, but you can install yours without removing the wheels. You will notice that this picture shows the new Anti-Roll bar on top of our reBAR.

Beginning with the rear sway bar, remove these two 15mm bolts on each side and make sure to save the bracket as you will be reusing this bracket with the red polyurethane bushings supplied in the kit.

Remove the end 18mm bolts on each side. You will need to hold the inside screw with a hex wrench in order to remove the bolt.

Your stock bar is now free to come out but it will take a lot of maneuvering to get it out. We unbolted the drop links and exhaust hangers to give us more room to get it out.

Here is a picture of the stock bar and the Eibach bar. The stock bar weighs in at 6.4 lbs and the new bar weighs a massive 11.1 lbs! Made of aircraft grade, high strength, cold-rolled steel. The bar has two holes on each side, the outside hole is a softer setting then the inside hold. We put our on the softer setting front and rear for testing. This seems to be the best setup for street or track. Autox or drifters might want to tighten up the rear.

Here is a picture of the rear bar installed. Make sure to lube up the bushings with the supplied lubricant.

The front bar is done very similarly, but it is much easier to remove! No need to remove the front wheels or drop links. Just remove the 4 inside bolts and 2 outside bolts and drop it out and replace with the new bar. Here is what it will look like when your done.

on your website, you list it as compatible with only the 2.4. Have you tried to install these on a Redline? I thought the sways were pretty much interchangeable. Also, you said you installed it on the soft setting, but have you tried the hard setting out of curiousity? I'm very interested

Yes, I need to know they are compatible or make for the redline and it's modified suspension.

Here is some information I gathered from the tech dept. at Eibach.

The sway bar kit was developed on a Solstice. It is made of premium aircraft-quality, cold roll steel and designed to be stronger then the stock sway bars on the softer setting and much more aggressive then stock on the stiff setting. Remember the front and rear bar both have a firm and soft setting.

The front Eibach sway bar is 32mm and 78% stronger then the stock front sway bar.
The rear Eibach sway bar is 25mm and 69% stronger then the stock rear sway bar.

They said that the bar was most likely not tested on the GXP/Redline so they couldnt confirm fitment. Hopefully we can get one in here to test this kit on. The stock GXP sway bar is 33.4mm and 25.3mm thick making it thicker then the Eibach, but not necessarily stronger. I am pretty sure the bar will be stronger and will fit on the GXP/Redline but we have not confirmed either yet. The bar comes with its own bushings so the thickness of the bar does not determine if it will fit or not. Its just a function of if the GXP/Redline is of a different design then the base model bar. Also remember that stronger is not always better, Eibach designed the kit with this in mind. Too strong of sway bars can cause new issues like broken toe links.
