Luggage Rack finally on

Well after a little instructions "brain fart" on my part and some timely help from the people at kappasphere I finally got it on. Thanks for your help.

Looks pretty good....any looseness when you drive? Seen any rubbing on the finish? How hard is it to close the trunk with the top up? Seems like when they first came out the upright rail was supposed to be in the front to prevent your luggage from braining you when you hit the brakes. Did they reverse that, or am I thinking of another manufacturer?

It is very sturdy had to adjust the trunk a bit on the one side as it rubbed the rear a bit. There is a rubber mark when I take it off but a rag and some detailer take of that. The luggage rack from Saturn Motor Sports is the one that is reversed. It is easier to close my trunk as there is a little more weight but I don't notice any real difference.

FYI. I posted a "Caution" on the KappaSphere Luggage Rack. After having it on about three weeks (installed exactly per instructions and usage), upon removal I noticed marks in the clearcoat, that I was unable to remove even with scratchout. They are very hard to see, but they're there. After talking with KappaSphere, thay said that they were still working on design problems with the straps laying flat, and they suggested maybe using a clear bra type material between the black rubber / plastic strips and the deck-lid as a buffer? I'll do this next time I mount mine. I'm pleased with the quality and fit.
Enjoy it.

Another caution that applies to any luggage rack is: Do Not Overload It. There is a maximum weight limit, and exceeding it will very likely result in denting the trunk lid.

Looks OK...But I have one question, why the kappashere and not the GM rack?? (I'm looking at installing the GM rack).

The Kappasphere rack is removable. So you only put it on as needed.

The GM rack (or as I call it - the broiler pan) is permanent, you have to drill holes in the deck lid & it is there all the time.

I don't have either one but if I were to get one - it would be a removable one.

A"broiler pan", hum never thought of it that way. I don't agree, as the Kappashere one (to me) looks like a "weber grill" but that's why we have choices right

As I said - I don't own either one of the luggage racks.

When I saw the GM rack installed on Kappa's - my first thought was that it looked almost exactly like my broiler pan.

And you asked why not the GM rack . . .
My point was that a number of people, including myself, that I would not want one permanently attached to my car.

But to each his own.

No you can remove the GM luggage rack. Yes you have to drill but they have black plugs you replace the bolts with. I don't have either one and don't need them but there you are with my 2 cents.

I have the exact same one. Mine took a few hours to put on... yeah those instructions are a bit odd. I had it on for 4 days for a trip with absolutely NO marks left on my car. I was so careful to keep the luggage under 50 pounds, I weighed it on my scale!
Well I like it but I no longer need it so I'm selling it... for anyone out there thinking about it, contact me. It was used the one time, and I must say I was worried about visibility with the rear-view mirror. I can see just fine since the rack is a few inches off the trunk, and I see straight through the space :-)
Overall it does the job so my chihuahua can sit on my lap with the crate on the luggage rack, and I can have a passenger
