Is that a concept car or the real deal?

It is still concept but planned for 2009. Meaning we should see this before the end of next year.

More Info

DETROIT — Picture a 2009 Buick Wildcat Gran Sport, arriving in fall 2008, with a 4.4-liter supercharged Northstar V8 that cranks out 425 horsepower and carries a starting price of $58,000.

That's the dream of enthusiasts at the Web site gminsidenews.com, who envision an ambitious revitalization program for all GM brands.

The Web site says the dream Buick lineup, which made its debut recently, is the first in its series and is a collaboration of GMI staff members ChevroletRevived and GMI Chopper Fbodyrules. The fantasy 2009 Buick Wildcat Gran Sport is the line's halo vehicle, and comes equipped with a Riviera-style boat tail rear end and T-top roof.

This is the same as the other post about the 2010 Sky. This site has no affiliation with GM and is merely someone's hope for what GM will do. These concepts on their site are not real and will likely never become real.

That is way longer than the Kappa platform from what I can tell by those pictures.

i would trade my sky for that. 4 seats, and the kappa platform! removable tops suck though, it would need to be some sort of retractable....

If it would run like the old Buick GS's of the '60's muscle car era, that would be worth investing in

Yes...Kappa, Kappa, Kappa.

Truely a great platform and GM needs to use it!

Plus...this dern turbo 2.0 L rocks like a little V8, all the while getting great gas mileage. I say do it! Do it all!

Caffine!!!!!!!! LOTS OF IT!!!

It is definitely a STINGRAY.....remodified of course and probably the only car out there that I would consider trading my SKY for.

Now for the old timers...I cannot recall the name of the old Buick in the 60's...was it wildfire....something with wild...and I am not talking about the deuce and a quarter..

Click on your link and look at the bottom of the page. You'll see this:

The site is in no way affiliated with GM. The car, like the GMI 2010 Sky, while nice, is merely what a couple of enthusiats with even more time on their hands than us would like to see GM produce.

If you still believe GMI is real and connected to GM, I'd invite you to take a look at their vision from last year for the 2008 Saab 9-3 series and compare to pics of the actual 2008 9-3 range from Car and Driver.

Real:

GMI:

While GMI is slick, clean, and well produced, it is completely unofficial and really means nothing. Hope this helps.

Did anyone notice that it is not a Kappa? It's built on a Y Body Platform.

GM's Kappa platform was based on the Y-body. The distinctive feature of both platforms is the backbone central-tunnel design.

Buick Wildcat memories

Ahh, I have many fine memories of a 1968 Buick Wildcat. That car could move! Good old fashioned American Musle from the days of cheap gas. I wa
