GM Performance Parts for Sky/Solstice

Hi,

I emailed the GM Performance Divisions to see if they are working on any performance upgrade packages for the Sky and Solstice. The reply I got was a little non-commital, but interesting. The person I communicated with said he understands that GM Performance Division is playing with some upgrade stuff but no clear direction as yet. He said to check back in Spring 07, he may have a bit more info.

The reason for the question is the GM Performance Division is currently offering upgrade kits for the 2.0 liter superchaged Ecotec motor that add around 36 hp for around $550. I wondered if they were planning something for the Sky/Solstice since that segment of the market would be rich with folks interested in performance upgrades - particularly if they can do it without affecting their warranty.

Just wanted to give you all a heads-up. I'll let you know if I hear anything from them.

Don't expect massive gains like the 2.0L LSJ sees from it's upgrades on the 2.4L base engine. The LSJ is a supercharged engine. The Stage 1 + Stage 2 kit for it that costs about $1200 is fuel injector upgrades, ECM retune, and smaller supercharger pulley. Besides the exhaust and intake there wont be anymore "for street use" upgrades I'm betting. There might be some "for off road use" items eventually like more aggressive cams for example, but you'll never see the same type of easy power upgrades like the LSJ can have.

Now the 2.0L LNF (Redline/GXP engine) could easily see cheap/powerful upgrades too though since it's turbocharged. An injector + ECU upgrade could yield some impressive gains on that engine.

That's what I'm hoping for... A few Stage kits for the RedLine and I will be more than set!!!
