Outings for the next six months

The Jacksonville Roadsters Club planning meeting was held Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the River City Brewing Company in Jacksonville. Nine members were present. Following a great meal, the Club got down to business of planning activities for the next six months. Thanks to Kenny and Mary for arranging the River City Brewing Company for our meeting.

Tentative events through December 2016:

Saturday, July 9th: Meet in Palm Coast, motor a scenic route to the Rose Villa Restaurant in Ormond Beach. Building was erected in the 1800's and recently turned into a great restaurant. Gene and Karen are the planners.

Saturday, August 13th: Visit the Florida Caverns State Park in Marianna, FL. Because of the distance, we will drive to Marianna the night before and meet that morning for the tour. this is one of the few state parks with dry (air-filled) caves and is the only state park in Florida to offer cave tours to the public. Gift shop available along with canoe rentals for those who wish to really do it up. Donna is the planner.

Saturday, September 23rd: Take a ride (the Peanut Festival Special) on the SAM Shortline Railroad from Cordele, GA to Plains, GA for the made famous by former President Jimmy Carter Peanut Festival in Plains. Beautiful train ride through rural Georgia. Additional time is allotted for a short train run to the boyhood home of President Carter before we head back to Cordele. We will meet the night before and motor out to the Dalphne Lodge Restaurant for a delicious meal. Reservation information will be forthcoming because this one fills up fast. Gene and Karen planners.

Saturday, October 22nd: Meet in Mayport, cross the St. Johns River by ferry and motor to old Fort Clinch State Park in Fernandina Beach. Step back in time to the year 1864, as soldiers reenact life during the Civil War days. Learn how the soldiers lived and worked each day. The fort was garrisoned 1st New York Volunteer Engineer during the Civil War. Kenny and Mary are the planners.

Sunday, November 13th: Meet at the Flagler Playhouse in Bunnell for the featured play of the season. We will meet at a restaurant prior to for lunch and then motor to the playhouse. Judi is the planner.

Saturday, December 10th: Christmas party at the Smith's in Palm Coast. Attendees will be asked to bring a side dish. Meet dish provided by the host. There may be a motor tour of Christmas Lights. Gene and Karen are the planners.

Dates and events are subject to change. Please continue to check your in box for the latest updates. We hope you have a wonderful next six months and will join us for fun filled and interesting monthly events.
