Maybe this was just an isolated incident, but has anyone ever gotten grief about bringing a bucket to the car wash to hand wash your convertible? A couple weeks ago I went to one close to my house (we live in a small town) and the owner came out and said people get upset when they see you with a bucket to wash your car. I made sure it wasn't super busy before I got out and actually the one person behind me was in a giant pick up truck so I'd imagine that would take longer than my washing the bottom half of a car, not to mention there were 2 additional stalls plus an automatic stall that was available. I'd never heard that before so I was just curious if anyone else had experienced that? Ironically the place is called tender loving care which is what I was trying to give my car lol.

In Germany people get upset about everything. But, of course, I always hand wash the Sky. I try to go to the local car wash either very early in the morning or late in the day when there are no other cars, and I've yet to be told off about bucket washing the car, but I'm sure it will happen eventually.

The real disappointment is that the car wash used to be open on Sunday and now is closed, like the rest of the country. It was the perfect time to take the car for a wash. (Then one has to ask--why is a coin-operated car wash ever closed? Who knows.)

"No buckets" is standard procedure at self service washes here in Fort Worth. I always use the self service for my SKY, and normally only have to rinse the dust off, but when the car actually gets dirty, I use the soapy brush carefully (always rinse the brush first).

I've never had an issue with using a bucket at the car wash. I notice some have signs saying no buckets. Me and a friend of mine would easily spend 2 hours washing and detailing our cars every Saturday morning at the car wash. We would do the detailing in the stall where you vacuum. It's not like it takes an extremely long time to wash with a bucket, but I can see how it has the perception of taking a lot longer. Folks just need to calm down, put on some good music, and relax. :-)

I was actually looking at a business opportunity. It was "waterless" car washing. He was going to teach me this method and Ceramic coating. He literally stood and washed the Dealer Principals Bentley in front of me without any water. And it didn't scratch the car. He charged him $50 to do it and it took him about 30 minutes.

For what it's worth, around here at all self serve car washes, there is no bucket washing allowed. And if you do, there is no "dumping" the water and they all have cameras....

Thanks everyone that's good to know. I'll just wash mine at home where I can take my time and not have to worry. 😊
