2013 Viper

It's a pretty car. Nice lines.

Some of the more interesting things I've read* about it:
*Primary Source: C&D, June 2012.

"Dodge" is no longer in the name.
Lawyers didn't want ESC fully disabled....but the program manager won...it can be fully disabled. But you won't read how in the users manual.
They splurged for high quality leather interior (or so they say)
Seats outsourced to same company that builds for Ferrari; excellent lateral and six point capable.
Steel frame. Because it's easier to repair!

I want one.

I still would rather have the Corvette ZR1 for my money... but the N/A V10 engine is nice with no supercharger or turbocharger.

That interior is something to behold. Seats are from the same company that makes them for Ferrari.

Looks like one group worked on the front and another on the rear, and then another group stuck them together.

Pretty much sums it up.

Nice car, for sure. Not sure I'd drop $100k on it before I'd spend $60k on a 650HP Mustang GT500, though. Is there 67% more performance and/or permagrin with the Viper at 'only' 640HP?

I'd also take a hard look at a ragtop Camaro ZL1 at 580HP at $60k.

Bogie 05-07-2012 10:53 PM

The Viper serves a market niche. That market is not into Mustangs, Corvettes, or Camaros. At least not in comparison to the niche itch scratched by the Viper.

It does. So do 650 HP Mustangs, Camaros, and Corvettes.

Agreed, something about the design just does not 'flow..' feels like it's folding at either end

Dodge needs to call Ian Callum

GT500 over a Viper? So an overweight straight line wonder versus a time attack car????? lol

Viper

Very COOL. Would not buy a MUSTANG. Saw a BOSS 302 in the showroom last week and looking at the build sheet, the transmission is from CHINA. What a disappointment. I wonder if the Shelby's have Chinese trannys also.

the acr is in a completely different class than the regular viper so you cant compare the acr to the gt500 in any way, shape, or form.
