I saw the test mule, about a year ago, but of course it was all blocked out. I am pretty sure the road they are driving on is Highway 243, the road I drive every single day. The latter part is Highway 74 coming from Mountain Center down to Rancho Mirage, the road we drove on our Palm Springs drive.

243/74 is a test bed road for just about every manufacturer out there.

It is cool to see these things long before others do, but it is a pain in the butt when they are doing all the filming. They block the road and make us set as much as an hour so they can cover them up at two major turn outs. Closing 243 from Banning to Twin Pines Road. About 5 miles with an altitude change of about 2000 feet. The drop from Mountain Center to Palm Springs is about 20 miles and 5000 feet.

When they released the first AMG convertible, we had about 20 of them going up and down the road, all day long, some type of driving test. I actually got to see them up close and personal then. 8-9 years ago I would guess

Opel, Saturn, Solstice, Mustang, All the /dodge products, Lincoln. BMW, and on and on. It is about 75 miles of Mountain twisties near Palm Springs, California. Normally great weather year around. You will see everything on the road, old cars, huge motorcycle runs, Motor cycle filming by Honda, Yamah, Harley, Suzuki. You name it they come there.

There are several tracks that are owned by manufacturers. This is the mountain driving site.

Like I said it is neat to see stuff you normally do not get to see, but it has its some real draw backs to. But love living there.

Very nice looking car, sounded good also, and yes I covet it also. The active rear steer caught my interest, along with the 0-60 times, and the HP and torque numbers stock.

Definitely prefer the coupe, and I'm thinking this may be a legitimately alternative to the iconic 911. And for whatever reason I'm seeing something American about this car. Cadillac, take note.
