GMI Exclusive: Saturn Reportedly Dead - GM Inside News Forum
Lets hope this is not true but the 2012 date lends to some credibility....

Although it is all-around bad news, I am going to try to make the best out of it by trying to get a redline at a good price. Fingers crossed!

GMI isn't an official GM site. Just another forum so what they are posting is still speculation. It all is until GM releases something official.

Also does not sound very promising for the Pontiac brand.

Well, for me and my family at least, we are not currently in the market for a new vehicle. My H2, daughters GMC Denali is also paid for. Young daughter paying for her 07 G6 GT which she loves, and wife & I have I think 2 yrs left on the 07 Sky which will put us well into 2011 or there abouts. At that time depending on how our vehicles are doing is when I plan on "updating" something.. Right now I spend top dollars on maintenance, I am meticulous about this. Something breaks it gets repaired right away.. So all my vehicles are in top notch condition and very highly maintained.. So we will continue to rock on..

What is stunning to me & my family is that we own 3 vehicles that are no longer wanted by the maker GM and will shortly cease to exist. .. that is what is amazing to me.. and very sad I have to add, people are going to be losing their jobs, and that is in no way a very positive thing IMHO..

I talked to the General Manager of the Saturn dealership where I live about this situation and he assured me that they would be around till at least 2013. That doesnt mean that they aren't closing their doors...just that we will have some time to figure out what to do when they do!

I don't think I would even consider buying used. Seems all of the used ones I've looked at are sold by dealers with ridiculous asking prices. Considering the current economic situation, a used "toy" car would need to be hugely discounted for me to consider it. I would feel much better buying a new one if the price difference is only 4-5k.

there are ones out there cheaper...where have you been looking? Just because a car is sold by a personal owner, doesn't mean the warrenty doesn't transfer.. My car was purchased and owned by an independent dealership. it had 800 miles on with, and was never titled. I got it last december for 24,500, Yes it's a redline, that would retail new for about 32-33...keep your eyes out and you can find good deals, you could probably even find a better deal than I got now.. Maybe

I've only really looked on ebay, craigslist, and autotrader. Ebay and autotrader only have the redline sold by dealers and the craigslist people have some ridiculously high asking prices. PS - I'm around the detroit-metro area.

Your deal sounds pretty good, but I'm hoping that my employee discount, bundled with some incentives could bring the price to around 27-28k for a new one. The only option I want is leather and automatic.

i was planning on buying mine new too, but I was suprised by looking around, so keep your eye pealed, someone might just drop a listing out there, and you might be lucky and getting a virutally new one like mine
