CLEVELAND -- The options seem endless when it comes to buying a car or truck, and women are certainly taking advantage of all of the choices.
5 On Your Side consumer specialist Angie Lau hit showrooms across northeast Ohio to see which cars are sizzling this summer.
In most cases, women want the the same things as men when it comes to what they drive: roomy and powerful.
In fact, CNW Research reports that a growing number of women enjoy the space of the Chevrolet Tahoe and the rugged flexibility of the hard top Jeep Wrangler, Lau reported.
When it comes to luxury, the ladies are looking at the top of the line. The Lexus lS430 comes complete with state-of-the-art safety technology and high-end style.
"It's the refined ride. It's the smoothest, quietest vehicle out there, bar none. And it's another reason why many of our consumers have found it so immensely pleasurable to own," said Dan Pyle with Metro Lexus.
Pyle said the attraction to the lS430 doesn't stop on the showroom floor.
"If a customer wanted to have the oil changed, we go out to them, drop off a loan car, pick up their car, bring it in, change the oil, wash the car for them and bring it back to them," Pyle said.
Two popular Cadillacs, the CTS and DTS, are also catching the eye of more women. Lau said 45 percent of the people who buy the DTS are women.
Check the roads and you'll likely see a woman behind the wheel of a pick-up truck like the Chevrolet Silverado, Lau reported.
The Honda Civic is also stylish and affordable, but Lau said the No. 1 hottest selling car for women is the Pontiac Solstice.
"It appeals to women because it's got big, sexy wheels. It's got a great appearance to it. It's got a 177-horsepower engine. It's great on gas. It's easy to drive and both available in automatic and in a stick shift," said Hally Flauto with Jay Pontiac.
The Solstice is not only easy on the eye, it's easy on the wallet. It costs just over $20,000.
For many women, it's love at first sight.
"Their first impression is, Wow. That is so adorable. I have to have one. I have to have a Solstice," Flauto said.
