paint color to match inner fenders

Just curious if anyone knows what black paint most matches the black inner fenders on 2009 saturn sky.
Tried 2 or 3 and can't get it to match. Satin or flat or semi gloss. What brand?

Thanks

It's an interesting idea...painting the wheel wells to match your car. Any takers out there? I am not talking black either.

I think he wants a color of black that matches the black of the liners. Not sure if he's painting the liners or something to match the liners.

I used a can of Krylon Dual Superbond Flat Black paint for the top/surround of my Solstice' boomerang. It's actually not completely flat, but has a slight sheen to it - though not as much as satin paint. Has a very slight grey tint to it and it came pretty close to the other plastic in the dash, so may be close enough for your purposes. You can pick up a can at Wally mart and do a test paint on something as a pretty cheap check.

NOTE: If you are actually painting the inner fender wells, the paint (any paint) may not stick too well - just an FYI.

For the front I purchased new wheel liners.

For the rear wheel liners I purchased a can of "Trim and Bumper Paint" from Autozone and the results are great.

It's been 11 months of California weather. So far no peeling and about a dozen washups.

What I despise about our wheel liners...they scratch so easily. Even if purchased new...they come in scratched. Does not make for a good appearance at car shows.

Where would be the best place to get good inner fenders for a 2009 sky redline?

I have heard that some of the replacements are thin and scratch very easily.

Thanks

FWIW, carbon fender liners are suppose to be in the works (but now that I think about it I think its just for Solstices). If I was going to paint mine I'd go with Krylon satin or semi-gloss black. While I've never read of anyone doing it I suppose you could try the new vinyl spray: autodip.com

The OEM ones scratch very easily. The replacement ones I've seen are more flexible and probably less likely to crack, but have a shinier, cheaper-looking, finish. However, if you were to paint them (I hadn't thought of that) they might end up being better than OEM!

CORRECTION: (to my earlier post). The paint I used was NOT Krylon Fusion, but Krylon Dual Superbond in Flat Black. Just in case anyone wantedt to try it out

Red fender liners

Yes, I have NOS liners for the GXP that are NOT cracked or scratched (that the untrained eye could tell, but a forum member might see one). I want to take a trip in the WayBack Machine and look at those red fender liners we could get for the GTO/LeMans/Tempest back in the day. I did not think enough of them to get a set back then but now wish I had. I think a black Solstice/Sky would look impressive with red inner fender liners (the surface) and black on the engine side. Wilwood caliper red is nice. The color coordinated red folks would like both sides red I would venture.

TS has the right idea about the Krylon. Pick a color. I bet you could even paint carbon fiber to look like plastic, scratch resistant plastic that is.

I ordered a set of carbon fiber inner fenders from Shurr things. He notified me he is getting ready to work on them. I requested pieces in Yellow/Black, Red/Black and Black. He is hoping to have them before the National, or may install them at the National. But I think they are just covers for the top, but be could wrong on that. Rob the Elder is working closely with him. He would know more about the specifics for sure.

I bought several OEM fenders and GM's answer, They are fender liners, who cares if they are scratched up!!! I said me and you can keep them. Took the parts guy to see where they went and how obvious the scratches were. Even worse than what I was replacing. He agreed, they had the wrong idea on shipping. My guess all of them are in a bin and just drug out when ordered.

The reproduction ones are better, but shinier. Not a fan of them, but will end up with them eventually is my guess.

The aftermarket liners although shinier are a better quality than the OEMs...and cheaper. GM produced the cheapest parts for our cars. You see from all the complaints.

I got an order in with him as well...wouldn't be happening until late fall but should be interesting.
