LS3 416CI stroker Build and swap

I guys.
After building and messing with the 4 cylinder for a few years now then having the block crack on me. I've decided to bite the bullet and drop in a LS3. I already have the T56 and dual core cross flow radiator so instead of spending another 12K on it I'm just going to drop in a V8.
The LS3 we're building would be about the same as the factory GM LS376 525hp not just a 400hp LS. Im running a Callie crank, custom cam, The highest flowing CNC ported Dart cylinder heads with big valves and better pistons so it will end up around 416-418 cubic inch. By the specs it should be around 550-600 at the crank but I think it will make a little more then that. Well see once its done and I get it on the dyno. I got the new block from GM last week and are getting everything else together. I'm tired of sensors so its going to be like a NASCAR motor. Distributer with MSD programmable controller, a carburetor probably from Dan Vanderley owner of VDL fuel systems, headers but not sure which ones yet. Below is the new block. I'll post on my Quest for 200MPH thread as well if your watching that.

What is your plan for the carburetor clearing the hood?

I have the RK hood so I'll have to see which manifold is the lowest and check out much room I have.

And it cleared the hood. Looking at the dimensions with front assy mounts, intake W carb and exhaust the LS3 is 2 inches shorter then a 383 so it should fit but we'll see.

Update.

The LS build is coming along costly,,,, I mean nicely.
HP calculations by machine shop counting for bore, stroke, cylinder head CFM flow, cam lift and duration, comp ratio and RPMs (capable of 7400) electric water pump and vacuum pump it comes out to around 650+HP at the crank on pump gas.

Engines done except for intake and carb.

Now to just run it on the engine dyno to tweak and see what she makes before putting it in the car

hopefully. We’re going to run it on the engine dyno first for any final tweaking then in the car. Kind of depends on if we can get in quick. The shop said he knows it’s been a long project so he’d work on squeezing us in.

For some unknown reason, the Forum quit sending me notifications on your "Quest for 200 MPH" Thread, and I missed out on most of the updates that you posted last year. Then suddenly today, I got a new update notification!(?)

So sorry to hear that the old 4 banger didn't work out like you had hoped. It sure wasn't for a lack of effort nor $$$$!

Have you finished the Dyno work on the new LS yet?

The LS swap sounds like a lot of fun! Best of luck with your new project, Rick!
