Newbie Questions

My husband surprised me yesterday with a 2008 black automatic Sky. Any tips on raising the top? Itís very heavy to lift up. Also, has anyone found good solutions for adding a handsfree cellphone?

Canít wait for the warmer weather to take her for a spin with the top down.

First off - Congrats

For the Top, Lift it from the side, You need to be outside the car anyway, Madza Miatas you can turn around in the driver's seat and lift the top from the center, The Saturn Sky requires you to exit the vehicle and lift the top from the side, It gets easier once you get use to it.

Hands Free - All I can suggest is a Bluetooth headset or upgrade the Stereo to a Bluetooth compatible one (I did this on a RAV4) not sure how wind noise would affect a conversation with the top down though.

Good Luck

I installed a hands free head unit and mounted the microphone right behind the rear view mirror, and it is impossible for people to hear you with the top down. Top up is perfect.

I did a bit of experimentation when I was adding a Parrot aftermarket bluetooth. If found, as you did, the mirror was not a good place. Funnily enough, the best position I found was right where the stock mic is - up near the top of the driver-side A-pillar. Who'd a thunk that the engineers actually got it right?

Later I got a Bluetooth VCIM and got rid of the Parrot. So then I could use the stock mic again. Even then, I found that sticking an oval of acoustic foam over the mic slots helped wind noise rejection. I can now be heard reasonably clearly up to about 45-50mph, with the top down!
