Radio Buttons Not Working

I'm going nucking futs over this! The buttons on my factory radio have not been working correctly for a while.

Last week before unhooking the battery for an extended amount of time I was having a problem with some of the buttons. "1" and "6" would not work while on the XM source, but would when on CD. Unhook the battery for a while last week to troubleshoot a misfire problem and they all start working again. Now today, 1, 6, power, band, aux/cd stopped working. The steering wheel controls work just fine.

Has anyone else had this problem?

No..but I see your future...taking your dash apart to remove your radio. Good Luck. Don't worry. It's only 22 or 23 screws...plus the 4 that hold the radio in.

Yea, just sounds like the buttons are wearing out. You can always go with a nicer unit instead you know. LOL

I wouldn't mind something a little newer, but I'm not trying to drop a bunch of money into the stereo in this thing. I'll check out that multi-page aftermarket stereo thread instead of asking off-topic stuff here.

I tell you now that a new head unit did wonders for my car. MUCH better. If you can swing it I highly recommend it but you're right, it's not cheap especially when you throw in the adapters and wiring.

How old is your battery? I had a similar problem with my radio until I replaced my battery.

Hmmmm, 1.5yrs maybe. I have an Odyssey in there and have never been able to kill one.

Today I took a suggestion about it maybe being a dust buildup problem and pressed the power button significantly harder than I would ever recommend. Wouldn't ya know it, the radio finally responded and turned off. Weirdest thing is ALL the buttons that previously didn't work, do again...for now.

Ahh, connections behind the faceplate being behind the power button makes sense. Thanks!

I agree, I chose a newer model, not top of the line by any means, but it does have Bluetooth and it does have a USB flash drive..... I know I'm very happy with it.
