Sound coming from engine bay

Hey there,

I had the hood open today while turning on the car and I'm concerned about a noise and vibration in the engine bay. Perhaps everything is fine but better safe than sorry. Figured I'd post a quick video (just 15 seconds) for a sanity check. Beyond the sound my other concern is the small metal rod in the center of the video. It's vibrating really quickly (even the video doesn't catch how quick it is moving).

Again, might be nothing but just looking for others to chime in.

Thanks in advance.

What you are hearing is the high pressure fuel pump. This noise is common with a direct injection motor.

Sounds normal to me for a LNF. Again, the fuel pump is really noisy.

They sell rubber silencers, I have one, but I don't think they work on really dirty engines

One source for the silencer:

Injector Pump Noise Reduction Cover 12628069

You should be able to pick it up just about anywhere GM parts are sold, but CrateEngineDepot is a supporting vendor of this forum.

I replaced mine with one. Can't say I noticed it having any real effect

For less than $20 I'm willing to take a shot at this, so I ordered it. Hopefully I'll perceive more of a difference than @TomatoSoup
