Here is a link to a video of a German trunk shock absorber assist that I put on my sky. it is adjustable and might do the trick in helping lift the trunk without replacing the torsion bar. I'll see if I can find a link to their website. For some reason I saved the video on my computer.

Here is the link to their website. Unfortunately you will need someone that reads German to translate this for you. I have a buddy from Germany that helped me through the ordering process.

Pretty sure this will not be strong enough to lift the trunk if the torsion bar(s) are broken. It might give enough pressure to lift the lid enough to get your fingers in, but not enough to hold it up appreciably.

I suspect that you are correct. I do know when I over adjusted the shock, I thought the trunk lid was going to fly off the car! lol

Try sending Riggs314 a private message on the Solstice forum. He has an Edag hardtop and has removed the decklid a couple times swapping between the hardtop and the vert.

Randy was able to fix mine by only removing the trunk from the hinges and the rear tail lights.
He did not take off the rear bumper.

Attached are the only 2 pics I have from this repair.
