You guys got any pics? It seems as though the installer fed the wire in between the bezel and the gauge cluster before installing the stereo. So to move the mic anywhere away from there I would basically have to remove all of the lower dash. He didn't secure it very well either.

Here's the pic.
Simple solution and seems like a perfect spot. The top "eyebrow" easily comes off from the dash and the edge of the bezel makes for an easy mount.

I just installed a new head unit (AVH-2440NEX)over the weekend. I installed the mic on the visor for now. After seeing in this thread that the factory microphone will work with a pioneer head unit, I will fabricate a cable and do that.
I ordered installation instructions from Crutchfield, I can't tell you how easy this made the installation. I highly suggest getting their instructions.

Did you paint the mount yourself or did you find a glossy frame somewhere? I was gonna paint mine but I really suck at stuff like that. I was afraid it wouldn't come out looking anywhere close to the piano black like the rest of the dash.

I did re-route the mic wire to behind the speedo cluster and mounted the mic where mybubbles65 mounted hers. I also ran the proper USB cable from the back of the stereo and up between the a/c vents so that I can have android auto while the phone is in it's phone mount. Here is an earlier thread.

I ran the other USB cable from the stereo to another USB port I mounted in the knee bolster. Like this guy did. Now I can also use a thumb drive for music as well.

I was only able to find matte black frames, so I had a friend of mine paint it gloss black for me. It came out great.
