Accel Supertuner

Hi all.
Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this device. I first saw it on CARiD.com and Amazon for around $300. The reviews on Amazon didnít help much. If it does what it claims it would be a no brainer, but does it? Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Garage
It's a mixed bag.

Pluses going for it...

Has a lot of features built into it you don't get with something like a Trifecta tune (scan, read, etc).
CARB legal if you're in CA.
Can use on multiple cars...(but only save one tune)

Some minuses...

Not sure if it's a canned tune or not.
Only can store two tunes. If you save your factory tune (which you should) you only have one tune left...which would be the one you're uploading.
Can you adjust the tune? It says you can "tune" for modifications but doesn't explain how it does that. Also, if you make a new tune and want to go back to the one you had before, you can't unless you've saved that old tune (and thus have forever erased your factory tune).
For the cost you can spend $100 more on credits and get HPTuners. For the $100 more...would be well worth it.

For me, I'd stick with HPTuners.

Thanks

...for the input, Robotech.
I'm researching HPtuners, now. I'm also going to call Accel, see if I can talk to someone about their 5 different tuner models and how they work.
Can't wait for spring....

No luck

I made several attempts to call Accel support but just got the round around. Accel is owned by Holley so I call Holley and they tell me the Supertuner is handled by another company, blah blah. Meanwhile, everyone's out to lunch or away from their desks. In a span of three days I spent almost an hour trying to locate a knowledgeable person about this product.
I suppose I could have tried harder but I get the impression this multi headed conglomerate of over a dozen companies, is just another mismanaged, do more with less, uncaring organization of the times.
Maybe I'll just email them. Lol...

So here's my take on these "plug'n'play" OBDII tuners. Usually they don't work with our cars. Our ECMs won't allow it to access the program because it needs the VIN number to do so. Not too mention, if you aren't tuned, and it does manage to access the ECM, it will just modify it and push it back to the 260/260 from factory. Save your money and buy the hidden tune from Trifecta if you're worried about CA emissions.

And honestly, in all the cars I've seen smoged in CA that were tuned, not once have I seen the tune get flagged. The parts on the engine that require the tune sure, but never the tune itself.
