Stripe decal removal

I recently bought a 09 ruby redline SE.
Itís stripes on hood (the one on trunk looks just fine) is showing some cracks and would like to remove it.
Whatís the best way to do it?

If any of you has actually removed the factory stripe, please chime in!

Thanks!

A heat gun on low or a hair dryer on high will usually make it easier to peel off vinyl stripes.

Be a ware that the paint will probably be darker under the stripe due to fading of the rest of the car, so you will see a "ghost stripe".

^^ Good point. If the original vinyl stripes are cracked, that indicates the car has been subject to a lot of sun (and hence UV) so the uncovered paint will likely had faded a bit.

Since the stripe on the trunk still looks good, Iím considering just to redo the hood with decal from auto trim design which seems to be exact fit. Their charcoal gray metallic seems like the same color as the factory stripe.

Does anyone know if I can still get the factory stripe? If so from who?

Both parts of the front stripe are shown as "no longer available" from GM.

google local graphic artist. One that specializes in vehicle wraps. They can make one any color you want. And should not be that expensive. I think you will have to reapply a new one though or as stated above the paint will be different
