A custom tune from a reputable tuner would be best. I always recommend HPTuners, however it will void any warranty you have

GMPP tune is ok if you have your call with no bolt ons or very mild bolt ons.

Trifecta is invisible, and PROBABLY wont void your warranty. You can get it canned or customized as well.

I would recommend a custom tune from someone reputable as well. I wouldn't buy a canned tune...

I've seen knock on a stock tune, modded tune, gmpp tune, pinkie pie tune.
My car had knock since driving it off the dealer lot, 60k miles later of hard driving and lots of boost and its still running. It seems like a couple degrees of kr is nothing to be worried aboot.

If I could find me a good tuner, I would go from my Trifecta to HPT. Nothing wrong with Trifecta but I think with HPT you can squeeze every little bit of possible power out.

tuner

does the gmpp tune take you to 290 hp and 340trq.i dont really want to put no mods on the car except for tune, maybe a mild exhaust system thats not too loud,

Call me silly: But if knock was a real issue with the GMPP tune, sure seems like we would have seen a lot more blown engines by now.

I have had the GMPP tune on my car since new. At 37,000 miles, GM had to change my block because of a failure in the water jacket. I was there when they pulled the head off the engine. Pistons, cylinders, valves all looked pristine. There are pictures posted on one of my threads. The failure of the block had nothing to do with the tune, it was a casting flaw between an oil return port and the water jacket, she dumped her coolant into the oil pan. I would think that if the GMPP tune was causing significant knock issues that there would have been evidence on the tops of the pistons, cylinder walls and valves. Hell, you could still see the factory cross marks on the cylinder walls. The damn thing still looked new. And I tend to drive enthusiastically, so I would think if it was a knocking, the engine would be a rocking.

I had zero knock in my hpt custom tune... with logs to prove it

Jeb, you are probably getting some tip in knock/fuel knock due to the way your setup is. Fuel add ons, and running an IWG turbo that should not be boosting as high at it does makes the tuning tricky. However your motor is forged, so it can take a pounding without worry.

back to the OP question, I think GMPP would do you just fine or a custom hpt. either way you should be happy

its not just for making the most power but doing it safely. ive heard that vince(trifecta) and zzp dont make safe tunes, but thats just hearsay.

im learning to use hptuners myself so i dont have to rely on an outside company. worse thing about trifecta is that you cant see what the engine is doing unlike hpt. regardless of whether you or someone else uses hpt to tune your car you can always see whats going on.
