0-60 after GM tune

I know saturn quote 0-60 in 5.5 for the stock turbo. Since I do not have access to timing equipment, and know what to expect AFTER the GMPP tune?

Adding 30+ HP and 80 lb.ft of torque and bound to have a positive effect. Do you think we are getting close to 5 flat?

I've heard numbers as low as 4.7. It addition to the HP and torque gains, the tune gets you and no lift shift and an extra 250 RPM in first and second gears, which means we get to 60 in 2nd gear instead of having to make an additional shift to 3rd.

No lift????

Right. If you have the accelerator on the floor and are near red line, you can simply push in the clutch and shift *without* taking your foot off the accelerator. This helps to keep the turbo loaded through the shift.

After twenty years of driving standard tranmissions, I initially found it very difficult to do: My right foot is very used to coming up when the clutch goes down, but I'm getting used to it...and practice makes perfect :)

I haven't been able to overcome 25 years of "lift," but I keep trying!

I have heard GM say this will not hurt your tranny and they (GM) have beat the HELL out of a similar equiped chevy SSR...I still think that it a major stress on your motor and tranny.

Also interested in 1/4 time improvement. I need to hit the track.

What is it with no lift?

Simkow 07-27-2009 03:41 PM

I have the GMPP tune on my automatic. After a few warm up runs I can hit between 5.00 and 5.06 seconds with the 0-60 test on my DashDaq. I'm really trying to hit 4.99 just to say I have hit it "under 5 seconds" but I haven't been able to yet. Hope that helps.

So probably about 5.1 for a non lifted manual. Nice.

A LOT of Mustangs running around here. The 2010 will hit sixty in 4.9. Scary this little 2.0 litre will hustle with the big boys. We can still embarrass the new V6 camaros too...just stay clear of the SS.

I read that, just like the Sky, the automatic Camaro runs .3 seconds faster than the manual. 4.6 vs 4.9 0-60....

With the GMPP tune on the Sky, the auto doesn't get the 80 ft-lbs of additional torque- it's 30 or 40 only. I *think* the manual is faster after both have the tune.

The Auto gets 65 ft-lbs, don't know who is faster...

The manual is faster.

Stock 260 ft-lb/260 hp, 6250 redline.

Auto PUpgrade 325 ft-lb/290 hp, 6500 redline
Manual PUpgrade Kit 340 ft-lb/290 hp, 6500 Redline.

https://www.skyroadster.com/forums/448655-post4.html

is my discussion on my car. It is not strictly stock, as the wastegate is tightened (currently 6 turns). I estimate on the development cars I ran (manual tranny) on average:

5.4 sec 0-60 13.95 @ 101 MPH 1/4 mile for stock manual tranny with clean shifts.

Approx 4.9 sec 0-60 13.65 @ 103 MPH 1/4 mile for manual tranny and only PUPgrade kit.

Tightening the wastegate gets some performance and higher speed through the traps, but not that much in terms of ET to 60mph or 1/4 mile. Be careful if you decide to change the wastegate, I am just telling you what I have done with my car for disclosure. It is possible to have warranty work denied because of wastegate tampering.

My discussion on this forum here about wastegate adjustment: https://www.skyroadster.com/forums/432719-post8.html

and my thoughts (NO RECOMMENDATIONS) on whether you should or should not tamper with the wastegate here: https://www.skyroadster.com/forums/403232-post964.html

Hope you found this helpful.

What makes you say that the Upgrade kit makes the manual faster than the auto? The stats you give are all for a manual.

The manual does get a few more pounds of torque, but how do you know that this is enough to overcome the inherent slowness of the manual?

Just to be clear, I'm NOT saying that you are wrong...I'd just like to know the facts behind your statement.

Thanks.
