Looking at getting a Sky. What are the differences betwwen 07, 08 and 09?

Did they do upgrades thru the years? I'm looking at a few 2007's. Wondering if I should try for an 08 or 09?

Thanks

N/A model or Turbo Redline model? There are a few changes that every mfg. makes in a new model year. The guys here know them all by heart. With the limited production run of 34K + depends on what your looking for, how much your willing to spend, what are the must haves, what you can live with out.

ChopTops thread on used Kappa's is always a good place to start shopping. You might find a good local used one, cheap in good shape, might have high miles on it though. Low mileage one's with all the bells and whistles might come at a higher price.

DD or 2nd car weekend fun-n-run car. I am not sure what the options list were from model year to model year, but there is one thing that comes with all Kappa models... one of these... permagrin.

I want a non turbo, silver, dark gray interior, automatic. I prefer cloth seats. Reasonably low miles and in very, very good condition. No modifications.

Thanks

You will never get a dark grey interior...leather or cloth. You will need it custom made. Everything else is doable.

Mike,

Your car has what many refer to as a Dark Grey interior. Others think of it as (192) Black!

Nope, it's black to me, too. It's black to Saturn and Pontiac in their literature and print books.

But I have heard a lot of people refer to it as dark grey, which is a lighter shade of BLACK.

Me, I'm partially color blind, a lot of things are "shades-of-grey".

Yea, technically in the real world of colors, very few parts of our cars are true black other than that "Piano black" bits of our interior and some stuff under the hood. Most of it is very dark shades of gray especially the seats.

I did my tulip panel in what plastidip calls anthracite with a black base and it matched the seats spot on. However, most will refer to our interior as "black".

Mera, check out some of the pictures of the car and you'll see what the color of our interior is. They all have the same color "black" but some cars have red or tan inserts in the seats and door panels. The ones with tan inserts also have tan tops. I don't think they ever did the tan interior with a black top but I don't know that for certain. Someone on here will. LOL

Cloth is going to be much harder to find. While I have seen a few, most of the cars I've seen were ordered with the optional "leather" interior. I use quotes because it's not genuine leather but it holds up great for a drop top car. Far better with less care than real leather would.

The rest is pretty common. Early build 2007s didn't have a door lock switch in the car so you can only unlock the doors with the key fob, inserting the key into the door, or pulling up on the lock nub/pin/switch (what the hell are those things called????). Later 2007s and up all have a proper door lock switch. Also, most 2007s do not have the power adjustable seat height. Not a big deal if you're tall but some shorter folks love it.

2007 NAs did not have traction control. I want to say 2008 it was optional and in 2009-10 it was standard. I always get this mixed up though because I know there was a transition to none to optional to standard but just don't know where those transitions exactly occurred for the Sky...I want to say it was even slightly different on the Solstices so I get them easily mixed up. All MY Redline models had Traction Control however.

2009s don't have the rear center twin cup holders...earlier models did. Some find them useless, I love them.

Black it is. The wife would like the electric seat. Can that be added? Get one from a totaled newer Sky/Solstice? Would it bolt right in and maybe run one hot wire to it?

Where is the electric seat switch?

I do not want that mixed color interior. All black.

If it has no interior lock switch does it lock automatically when you start to drive it? If it does not lock automatically I can live without the interior lock button.

I've looked on line at the options available for like the 2007 and the list seems fairly short. Most things were standard equipment. I can live without a limited slip differential etc. What ever radio it has is OK by me. No wing is probably better for me. Painted rims are OK.

If it does not have that electric seat option is the seat then not height adjustable? If that is true I would be looking to add the electric seat if possible. I'm tall and my wife is short. How about front to back seat adjustment? Is that manual on all Sky's? Just the height is electric motor driven?

I do not need traction control. It will never get driven in the winter and seldom even in the rain. We will never abuse it. Just drive it.

All cars with power locks (some were ordered without them) will unlock the doors when put into park (auto) or turned off (manual). They all lock automatically. The only value in my mind for the lock button is to easily unlock the doors in a manual transmission car when dropping someone off or picking them up.

All cars have manual fore-aft adjustment. The power feature is up-down only, and the switch is on the seat so it would be possible to add one.

The electric front driver's seat is only height adjustable. Front-back is manual. There is no height adjustment without the electric option.

HTH.

I want to say it can be added fairly easily (the plugs are there) but I'm not 100% sure. Something in the back of my head tells me it can. Here is the search result from Google of the different threads on here you can read to get a firm answer.

https://www.google.com/search?q=addi...=1050&bih=1533

The back recline angle and front to rear position are both manual and yes are standard on all model years. Non-electric seat height seats did not have a height adjustment. The height of the non-adjustable height seats is the same as the lowest setting on the height adjustable seats.

There weren't many options in 2007 and you covered them all I believe other than top colors and interior colors...but we already determined all black is for you.

I did some research and the electric seat is not that easy to install. Looks like you kinda need the whole seat. Not just the slider assembly. Plus they say you should have the factory wiring harness in there. How many wires does it take?? Seems just a 12 volt hot and at most ground wire. One can add them IMO? If the one I buy does not have it I'll probably live with it. I would maybe add some washers and raise the drivers seat just a little.
