Passenger knee console cup holder

I just purchased my Sky last week. Playing around with it, checking thinks out, etc. Tried to open the cup holder and it pivoted into the console(the rear edge closest to the seat. I can get the cup holder open, the front edge stays in place, its the rear or back edge that slides into the console. I've tried pulling it out to no avail. Any suggestions?? Thanks

Are you a manual or automatic? In the manuals you can lift up the shifter boot and get to the cup holder from inside the console. If you do that, you should be able to push the back end of the cup holder back into position.

If you can't do that (don't know if the auto trans cars have that kind of access) then you will need to try and get the cup holder out completely. If the back is pressed in, see if you can (with the cup holder closed) push it in further and get the front part of the holder assembly to pop outwards. If you can, you can then finagle the holder assembly out of the console. Once it is out, it should slide easily back in place and lock in position as before.

This is, assuming, that your car isn't one of the later builds that has a screw securing it in place internally. Then I have no idea what you need to do as both my Skys have been very early built 2007 manuals where the first tip I listed works perfectly.

Auto. I've been pulling the crap out of it but I don't want to crack the console. I may have to remove the console to get at it. Thanks for the advise, much appreciated!

Removing that console isn't easy. You have to remove the entire lower part of the dash to get it out.

I was able to slide a plastic card between the console and cup holder top and bottom from center then slide them to the right to depress the retainer clips. If you can do the same on the left side if you can and pull holder out. I used cards from the casinos they were thin enough. Don't know why I had them. Ha

Plasticized playing cards seem to work also.

Thank you all for your suggestions. When I get back north AND it's not too cold I'll try the two-card monte trick, hopefully it'll work. I'll let you know how I fare. Great forum, lots of good info.!
