Any Raleigh Area Redline Owners? Engine is Blown, Need Help

Here is the thread with the story:

https://www.skyroadster.com/forums/f5...ed-help-47689/

I am dealing with Hendrick GM in Cary. I have a hunch they saw a girl come in and decided to see how much they could siphon out of me. Just wondering if anyone would be willing to give some insight/possibly meet me at the service department to look at the damage. I can compensate for the help.

If you can give the car up for a while, why not take it to DDM works? Dave is very competent with any modifications you wish to install along side and will be cheaper than a dealer as well.

As I said in your other thread, if you are looking for a motor swap, I can help with that as well, but I am a little far away in ohio.

Feel free to PM with any questions!

If I remember right, BLKGXP blew his engine near Raliegh last year on his way to Asheville. He had a dealer replace it. I'll see if I can get ahold of him and get some info for you.

Just doing my thingy... :)

Here's the scoop:

They were on their way from Raleigh to Jacksonville when the engine blew. He ended up having it towed to Jacksonville as that is where his son lives. That won't really help you, but this will:

The dealer he went to charged him $6700. He said they didn't know much about the engine and it wasn't running right when the car was finished. He took it to his local dealer in St. Louis and they were able to find the issues and correct them. He did end up getting some of the costs covered by GM. Actually, a decent portion of the costs.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

Thank you! Now just waiting on pins and needles for more info from GM.

No....that's my last name, but I do go to Garner occasionally. I am south of Sanford.

I know at least one in the group did the V-8 swap. Awesome car!

Check with Summit pre owned in Raleigh. I bought my Sky there and they used to be a Saturn dealer. I have nothing but good things to say about them.
They are on Capital Blvd.

Good luck!!

You're welcome. Sorry, I just reread that and hope my post was clear. The dealer in Jacksonville installed a new lnf for $6700. But they weren't familiar with the engine, did a poor job, and the engine didn't run right after the install. Once he got the car home, the St. Louis dealership found the problems and corrected them.

Good luck and hope you find a good shop to take care of you!
