The Jacksonville Roadsters May ride is to the Butterfly Rainforest at the Florida Museum of Natural History, located on the University of Florida campus. We will meet in the Wal-Mart parking lot on the south end of Starke (US 301/SR 200 South) at 10:30 am, Saturday May 4, 2013. Written directions from Starke to the UF Campus will be handed out at the meeting place.
Com face-to face with hundreds of exotic vibrant butterflies fluttering atop a lush tropical canvas of foliage and flowers.
The 6,400 square foot outdoor, screened enclosure houses tropical plants, trees and between 60 to 80 Lepidoptera species at any given time.
Inside, view more than 13,000 scanned and actual Lepidoptera specimens on the “Wall of Wings,” and learn about butterfly and moth biology. The Museum’s McGuire Center is the world’s largest Lepidoptera research facility and houses one of the world’s largest collections of Butterflies and moths.
Lunch will be at the Texas Road House on Archer Road.
