I think that may be in the cards if I can convince my tuner friend to do it. Maybe put together a bit of a donation plate for him to do it as it is a marketable skill.

No, the O2 will not be wired into the ECM...I wish. It will hook up to the HPTuners Pro interface and logged that way. That's why I had to run a second O2 bung on the cat. I need the stock 2.4 narrow band for the ECM reference on fueling and the wide band to get an accurate fueling picture.

The O2 that you can see in your engine bay sticking out of the back of the downpipe behind the turbo on the LNF is already a wide band. It actually is a better wide band setup than the one I'm using for my build. Since you already have it in your car, you can read it through HPTuners already. No extra bung necessary for you LNF folks.

OK. I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

Good luck with the tune!

Would make my life easier. You should see the mess I have to deal with tomorrow! Uhg.

I'll talk to him this weekend and see if he is up for tuning a couple cars and instructing others on how this all works. He use to do it a lot but he stopped some time ago. You'd probably need to buy credits for your car too since the only Sky he has setup in his HPTuners now is for 2007 2.4 Skys. LOL I think it's $50 per credit and our cars take two credits per model per year. (so to cover 06-10 Skys and Solstices you'd need a total of 34 credits...2 for 06 and then 8 for every model year thereafter to cover the base and turbo models of each brand...)

Yes, but if you have an '08, you just pay 2 credits ($100) and that's it. No need for '09 also. Max $100 per car.

Didn't know my '08 would only need two credits, Thanks Yogi! Robo, please keep me posted on what his rate is, also if he'd consider doing it this Sunday as long as it doesn't hinder your tune time.

Right...and I probably didn't explain it well...was just saying that just because he can tune my 07 2.4 Sky doesn't mean he could then tune an 08 Redline Sky because he doesn't have the credits for that car.

I'll talk to him this weekend but I doubt he'll have time to do both cars.

See, when you're doing this kind of tuning, it's a lot more than just flash the ECM and done. We're building a custom tune to my car with these modifications. The "tuning" part takes very little time actually, but the driving to log the data required to do that tuning can take days. Like I said, I'm getting started on Friday trying to get the <4000 rpm fueling locked in just using fuel trims. Sunday will be fine tuning that, open loop fueling, and getting the timing tables down. That could be an all day thing.

Even then, at the end of the day, we'll have probably a 75-90% tune and will need to fine tune it from there.

Thanks for the clarification.

One more thing: If two '08s come, it is still $100 EACH. Just because Joe Blow pays $100 for 2 credits, any additional '08s will also have to pay $100 for their tunes.

One more thing #2: If he is tuning multiple models of the same motor, like 5 LNFs, each additional tune becomes easier (and quicker) for the Tuner. As long as the cars are equipped the same, what he (and the ECM) "learns" on the first LNF can be applied to the second LNF, and so on down the line. This only applies to the "initial tune" which helps the Tuner get to a baseline tune quicker. EACH WILL STILL NEED ON-THE-ROAD "LEARNING AND SUBSEQUENT FINE TUNING.

Awesome! Enough of the tune thread hijack. In all fairness, this thread is about Robo's Mod. Thank you so much Yogi!

My understanding was you could license HP Tuners to tune any 07 LE5 Sky...That it wasn't car specific...

Sure! I've never heard any major differences in the LE5s. I just used the LNF as a "for example."

Now that I think about it the early LNFs had a different ECM. It was updated in '07 or '08, I can't remember which.
