Then take an easy cruise home on Sunday, stopping along the way for lunch on the way home.

Trip to Grand Junction Sept 17-19 ,

Wine Fest
Colorado Mountain Winefest ? A festival in celebration of wine! ? Palisade, Colorado ?*Wine Festival

Visit the Dinosaur Museum
Dinosaur Journey
Dinosaur Journey tells the story of the history of life in western Colorado and surrounding areas with real fossils, cast skeletons and robotic reconstructions of dinosaurs. The hands-on, interactive museum includes paleontology displays, a working laboratory where dinosaur bones are prepared for display, a collections room where scientists study dinosaurs and other animals, a simulated earthquake ride, a dinosaur library reading area, a sandbox for making your own dinosaur tracks and a “quarry site” where kids can uncover actual Jurassic dinosaur bones.

Among the exhibits are real bones of dinosaurs such as Apatosaurus, Stegosaurus and Allosaurus, along with robotic reconstructions of Dilophosaurus, Utahraptor, Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus. See full-size cast skeletal mounts of Velociraptor, Camarasaurus, Allosaurus, Stegosaurus, Othnielia, Camptosaurus and Mymoorapelta. Enjoy large historic photos of dinosaur digs in the area dating from as far back as 1900. Compare your size to that of the shoulder blade of a Supersaurus, or compare the size of any dinosaur bone to that of Amphicoelias fragillimus, a dinosaur that dwarfs all others. See a tiny Jurassic lizard pelvis and compare it to the pelvis of an Apatosaurus, a dinosaur that was perhaps a million times heavier than a lizard. These exhibits plus dinosaur tracks, corals, fossil fish and much much more are waiting at the Dinosaur Journey Museum!

Visit the Gateway Auto Museum
Gateway Colorado Automobile Museum

Gateway Colorado Automobile Museum
The Gateway Colorado Automobile Museum is pleased to present one of the finest collections of American automobiles in existence today. With just over forty vehicles in the privately owned Hendricks Collection – the Gateway Colorado Automobile Museum tells a story…the story of how the automobile impacted society. It is an educational experience with historical perspective.
The collection is arranged in a Timeline that captures 100 years of automotive history in America from the 1906 Cadillac Model H Coupe to the 2006 Chip Foose Mustang Stallion. Arranged in several galleries – one of the most awe-inspiring realizations is that this is no ordinary auto museum. From the moment you take a step back in time in the Open Road Theater listening to Walter Cronkite talk about the American Automobile and its place in society – to the brief video clip showing the acquisition of the Auto Museum’s own $3.24 million dollar version of the “Mona Lisa” – the 1954 Oldsmobile F-88 Concept Car – it is obvious that it is educational, it is historical and it is very much about the cars.
The Hendricks Collection, owned by John Hendricks (founder of the Discovery Channel) and his family, and the Gateway Colorado Automobile Museum, have far reaching appeal. It is intriguing, it is elegant and it has an allure that captures the rapt interest of all who experience it. The stories shared through the Hendricks Collection are not those of John Hendricks alone. Nearly every person that passes through the Timeline or Galleries has a strong connection to a vehicle from the past - a vehicle similar to one pristinely preserved in this collection. John Hendricks phrased it perfectly: People “experienced cars as magic machines that provoked dreams of adventure on the open road.”
We can get a room for less than $100 a night if we reserve soon

Not Long Now

This trip is fast approaching and I'm glad to see that Rob has 11 cars signed up for it.
I had hoped to see some more of our old members that live on the Western Slope coming along as part of it, since we go past Gleenwood Springs/Aspen and are just around the bend from Montrose and Hotchkiss.

Will be great to see nighttammer again!

Great Cruise- Loads of Fun!!

Friday we cought up to the group in Gerogetown then passed them around Vail Pass area, but we did manage to miss the tire that the logging truck was leaving on the highway

Friday Lunch at the Double Tree was great- good food and great companionships. Cruise following for Ice Cream through the canyons by the Table was funtastic. Our leader provided a highly spirited return run through the twisties.
Friday Evening we were forced to drink good wines and eat too much chocolate, at the Wine Fest. Chocolate program!

Sat- slept in then went to the Wine Fest., parked 50 ft. from the entrance, here too were were made to eat some fantastic foods ( lamb, pork, Mongolian chicken, Zucchini, rice dish, More chocolate and Cheese cake) each paired with some great wines, listend to some good music and toured through the exhibitor tents.

Didn't do the museum cruise with that group, but did meet them for supper at Garfield Stakehouse and the Village Inn for Pies.

Sun- Leslie and we took the North Route home through Craig, Steamboat (Mex. Luch), and through the Poudre Canyon twisties.
