GM Inaugurates New Performance and Racing Center

Interesting story. I wonder what they could've done to the 2.0 if the Kappa had survived?

That's exactly what they want, modified the car for performance and lose your warranty because they are going to blame it on the performance part...

Not if you buy their performance parts. If you recall the Stage 1 GMPP upgrade for the Kappa didn't void the warranty.

I believe that their crate engines come with warranties also, don't they?

Yogi

EDIT: They sure do: https://www.chevrolet.com/content/da...ranty-card.pdf

If you go racing and the engine fails they'll void your warranty due to abuse even if you have gm performance parts under the hood, the key word here is abuse, constant full throttle is considered abuse.

But he wasn't talking about going racing, just modifying "your" car which I took to mean a daily driven street car (or what passes for daily driven with a Kappa...skersfan...) and then blame failure on the part, not the activity.

Racing is a whole different deal and I understand he was commenting on your post which was referencing racing but I was talking about Marvic's argument.

Confusing...LOL

In that care you're right, in my case my car had a leaking rear main seal the day i brought it home from the dealer. The first time they replaced it and it still leaked, they had it a second time and fixed some more leaks and another main seal and it still leaked, took it to another dealer that finally fixed it. Then i went a gm sponsored drag event, there were some gm people taking pics there but i never batted an eye, did some runs on the drag strip and went home.
A month later i went for some warranty work, think it was the broken nipple on the intake, and they refused to service the car since the warranty is void due to abuse. They said all the seal issues were due to me abusing the car... how could i abuse the car when i received it in the middle of winter?

I contacted gm about this, they wouldn't answer any questions other than get a lawyer if you want to proceed further.

I'll bet onstar these days is sending back more info to gm about your driving habits than anyone thinks.

That is some shaddy stuff there. They bet you won't fight it and thus are not required to prove you abused it before that drag event.
