@OmegaUser I now got the quote from AB24 and I will dismount and send the unit for modification.

Do you know the answer to this questions:

1. Will both Passenger and Driver Airbag work after this modification is done? Will they always be active and deploy in a crash?
2. I will no longer need the Passenger Prescense Sensor (Sitzbelegungsmatte) so I can discard it?
3. Will the Passenger seatbelt reminder be on or always off?

@Kjelle69
These were exactly the questions I had at the time I had contact with Airbag24.

1. yes
2. yes. In fact, the PPS no longer needs to be connected after the modification. Otherwise, the ASM receives a signal that it does not understand.
3. Always off.

I think you should also submit these questions to Airbag24 yourself (I think this can also be done in English).

Good luck.

That is very good news. They are now 2 for 2.

Are you going to leave the PPS plugged in? I am curious about whether the ON indicator is working with the reprogrammed SDM.

My plan was to rip it out completely.
As it works now with the PPS unplugged, no lights in the center console lights up whatsoever.
The seatbelt reminder for the driver still worked, the passengers reminder light is off all the time.

Aha, that's very good news. No more stupid error messages. I read that in your case also the two airbag indicator lights in the center console are turned off (just like in my case).

Has Airbag24 also asked you to disconnect the PPS plug?

If you remove the PPS now completely and fill the seat with foam rubber then you do not need the PPS anymore. I know someone who would like to receive the PPS ...

The control of the ON and OFF lights is done by the PPS, so if it is not plugged in the lights will never work. The SDM tells the PPS which light to turn on and also how bright to make it. There are three light levels that I have decoded: very bright for headlighs off, middle bright for headlights on and instrument lights turned to bright, and dim for headlights on and instrument lights turned to dim. The actual brightness doesn't vary much, but the three commanded levels are there.

The passenger seat belt warning light is controlled by the BCM, so it can work, but apparently will not because the SDM must be telling the BCM that the seat is empty. Otherwise it would be on unless the seat belt was buckled.

If you want the ON light to be on, there are two pins in the connector that the PPS plugs into that you have to connect together. If you want it to be on, but dim, you can connect the pins with a resistor. If either of you are interested let me know and I will post the information here. Or, if you have the wiring diagram, you can probably figure it out for yourself. Just watch out, because connecting the wrong pins will blow the fuse.

@OmegaUser, I also noticed that all the security lights in the center console is permanently off now.

And now I've read @JohnWR 's post. 🙂 Exactly as he describes. I think I'll remove the lights and maybe install something else there. Time will tell.

@Kjelle69

It is indeed as @JohnWR writes above. In my earlier post (klikkerdeklik) I already indicated that the airbag indicator lights in the center console no longer function after the modification (or apparently because the PPS is no longer connected).

I therefore expect no problems with the annual inspection that is necessary in the Netherlands. If that is the case, I will carry out the modification that JohnWR describes above.

Is such an inspection also necessary in Sweden?

Yes. But in Sweden the rules is that no service lamp concerning the safety or the exhaust cleaning systems can be lit. Esc dsc airbag. Etc. They have never mentioned anything about specific model lights like the one in the Opel passenger airbag information lights.
