Bluetooth question

I have an '09 with the Monsoon system and tried to
Pair my iPhone to the Bluetooth in the car. When I press the mute button down I get the Ready response but when I say Bluetooth, it will not respond with Bluetooth ready. It is as though the system doesn't hear me. It does respond to the word help by going through the speal for that but will not respond to Bluetooth. My phone works fine in my Tacoma and it is set up for discovery. Any ideas? Thanks, TerryJ.

Are u sure u have Bluetooth...if my brain is functioning, I believe bluetooth was an option in 2009 and not standard equipment...it may have been standard on the SE models.

Monsoon has nothing to do with bluetooth...bluetooth comes from your VCIM (Voice Control Interface Module). If your car does not have this option, do not worry. It can be remedied very easily. Instructions will follow if needed.

Any way to check and see if the car has the Bluetooth module?

I would say if you have the newer users manual and tried the wording in the manual and the option is not available under help them you don't have Bluetooth. I installed a newer VCIM and had to download a newer manual to get the Bluetooth commands.

I hope u notified On Star of your new VCIM...if it is not new and came from another car, they r reading the other cars Vin and location. Remember these VCIMs are Vin coded. If On Star wants to remotely communicate with your car...it cannot without the correct Vin# assigned to your VCIM.

U don't need to...just tell them to note your Vin for your new VCIM/ I haven't done more research on their communication...but there probably are more Vin# syncs throughout our cars...just guessing on that.

It sounds like onstar will do this for free with a new vcim? Doesn't the dealer charge for this?

Not true...

...they haven't started charging for the air you breath yet. Looking, looking they still haven't figured out to to charge for that but that one I know they're working on.
