another solution

So I've cleaned multiple times after batt change-still real sluggish .
using a leather punch set for size of buttons, punch out aluminum tape(duct tape) stick to buttons so makes contact with PC board when pushed..
tada-no more sluggish button functions

WANT CHANGE- never vote for the incumbent

I bought two fobs off ebay, I think I paid $5.99 for one and $9.99 for the other. I took them to my local Chevy dealership and they charged me $45 to program both. One of them wouldn't work however so they opened it up and sure enough, same problem. It appears that the Tech knew about this however because he did the same thing, re-soldered the battery clip. After that he programmed the fob and away I went, a happy customer

More thorough than I did, but after my first OE fob broke I bought another and, it too, broke, so since 2 came with my Sky, I still had one remaining, and then it broke. Being a Supply Chain Manager, I can tell you that whoever manufactured these babies should be placed on new business hold, because their workmanship is crap! Anyway, so I opened one and resoldered the center (only) connection and it has worked ever since. I should probably try and solder the other two connections though.

Thanks for the write-up

This is a common problem in many gm fobs starting back in the late 80's that I've come across. Bloody good of you to do a write up with pictures for the masses. I would have never thought of doing it ... thinking it was common knowledge.

There are a couple of company's that sell just the rubber piece for almost any FOB made just select your car, year etc. I bought two a couple of years ago after I tried soldering the contacts and FOB was still intermittent. The rubber replacement piece is very inexpensive thru both company's.
