EVAP Purge Solenoid testing and replacement video

Hello Everyone,

We have been getting a lot of calls about this, so we thought we should make a quick little video on how to check and replace the EVAP purge solenoid on the LNF cars. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Here is the link to the video on youtube:

Excellent video, Dave. Thank You.

I do have a question: I was told by service that there is actually a second purge solenoid valve in the back of the car by the gas tank. Is that true? I assume if that is the case, this one is after an "expansion canister". And I was told that it is also controlled by the ECM. Does it exist? And does it dump to atmosphere?

The reason I ask, is because I had a strong gas smell emanating from my Sky during a local drive up in the Mountains on a hot day. I stopped into service when I got back into town, and the service writer could smell the obvious gas smell as well, but they could not get me in that day. And of course when they did get me in a couple days later, they could not duplicate the problem. Here is permalink to my post on this: https://www.skyroadster.com/forums/f2...tml#post538389

GS Stage 1-
There IS a second purge solenoid valve back by the gas tank, but I'm not sure if it does vent to atmosphere. I will do my best to find out.

Got some more information for you GS Stage1.

The second purge solenoid is ontop of the gas tank and looks like it DOES vent to atmosphere. Here are some pictures for you.

Also, here is a link to the fuel tank assembly. The control solenoid is #21 on the diagram.
