Took a look at new prices on the 4C. Optioned the way I'd want to buy one, it was ~$78K CAN or $67K US for the coupe (which considering the currency exchange rate means we get a deal up here).
When you consider that the Porsche Cayman GT4 I was seriously looking at was going for c. $140K (Can - by profiteering dealers after production had stopped, but I think US list was in the 90K range) the Alfa is pretty good bang for the buck.
What else is there out there that I'd be interested in (Evora at $91K US?) - not much. I'd probably buy an original NSX (50-70K Can.) which I've always had a hankering for even though they could use a tad more power (which I could arrange.....
Sad that there are always so few sports cars available.

Eiff, I am cheering for you and that beauty! I've loved the looks of is since they trotted it out on the Auto Show circuit a couple of years back. I saw Clarkson drive one on Top Gear - and I still want one. It is certainly a car that I would consider buying. When/If my "urban mansion" sells at some point, the 4C will be within reach and it will certainly be a consideration.
This is yet another reason I love forums. I get to feel great about other folks' purchases and cool works. Does this car have you saying "What Sky?" or is that car still in your heart?

I probably can, and will look for one when I get back into the restoration project.
If all else fails I have a folding top frame and can use the front bow from it to make one.
Those trips were made when I was just out of school and the TR was my only car.

The stow away MG top I referenced was on our MGC (same as an MGB except straight 6). The MGA had a more sensible set up that had catches at each front corner and folded down behind the seats - still a bit of running side to side. I don't have to worry about it, as I am down to one coupe, a rebodied MGA (also coupe) and my race car with no top at all.
The Surrey top was a neat set up (and rare) and it ticked off Triumph owners when Porsche later came out with the Targa top and claimed it as the first of its kind.

I watched a coupe soft top removal/replacement once. It involved putting the assembly upside down on a blanket laid on the ground and use of a rubber mallet to help with the frame.
My MGB had the same top arrangement as your MGA, Bill. Major operation to put up or down. Then there was the TR-250 Surrey Top that was fitted to my TR-6.......
Is the Alfa rear-engine or mid-engine? I thought mid.
