JW-Redline Instead of CBI I use https://www.crossborderpickups.ca now. They'll bring it over the border for you right to Mississauga or Markham.

CBI will hold my packages for free for months, so if I have 2 or more UPS shipments, I save at least $24 per shipment on brokerage fees alone, that more than covers my gas + toll to drive 2 hours each direction to pick up my packages, so the difference in shipping costs US vs Canada is money in my pocket.

If you're too far away, need something right away, or too busy; that's a completely different story...

wspohn Yeah, but the point is that Canada Post charges a flat $5 no matter what the value is, for doing the customs clearance and collecting any taxes owed, rather than the UPS $30. And half the stuff coming by mail comes straight through without having to pay anything.

SaturnSkyRedline2015 Shipping/handling/brokerage/duties sometimes are more than the actual part(s). Then have to deal with the really bad exchange rate. But need to pay to play. Canít get the parts up here otherwise.

wspohn I had a couple of rather large powered subwoofers shipped to an accommodation address just across the border, and went and picked them up and cleared them through customs myself. Shipping cost about half what it would have direct to my Canadian address.

And never, ever use UPS for corss border shipping - they'll charge you a $30 customs fee on a $1 asher that would have sailed straight through in the mail.

Agreed. Often times is free shipping to the US and ridiculous shipping to us here in Canada.

wspohn Solo is in Canada so no worries there if you are after exhaust.

SaturnSkyRedline2015 You are stuck paying the nasty exchange. Try shipping usps for smaller parts. No brokerage or handling fees. And if you get lucky, no duty.

SaturnSkyRedline2015 Came out of the polar vortex today and temperatures above zero (32 to our American friends). Nice to see some of the snow melt away today.

You are so right about the auto-correct. That is the single reason to read every post before you Submit the post. And don't forget to read it after it is posted, if you can. The edit function, if completed right away, won't even show that an edit has occurred when done immediately or very close to posting.

Bought mine in July but needed some work to get it certified but managed to put 2000 kms in September and October. I am in the London area so hopefully spring comes quicker down here.
