LAC Sky Set screw? Bushing or cotter pin? Linkage not worn out, but too much play for your liking, over usage and time. Minor I think,
but... little problems can turn into way bigger ones & expensive if major parts are worn out here, if left unattended to maybe?

I don't have a parts breakdown drawing of the shifter in my folder here to look closer.
One of the parts sites we use might have a good parts drawing look to see if there are bushings, set screws/pins,
adjustments, dry lubrication you can make/buy on your own, before taking it to any shop
and their costs for replacing anything.

Nobody likes a sloppy shifter, the manual guys can attest to that.
With the AT, I have not seen or read here where there are issues with our shifter
unless over usage of rowing through the gears/shifter manually by the owner?

This issue has been on many of the car shows. Sloppy play within the shifter linkage.
Always something simple for the host to fix.
Rarely do they fix/replace OEM major parts, or replace the shifter all together.

Thanks!
Since the play is only fwd and backwards (not side to side), I figured it was some worn bushing or piece that might've broken.

It still works, so I'm able to drive fine. If it gets worse though, I'll take it to a tranny shop and see what they say.

Transmission Shifter Not Locking

2007, 2.4 Automatic

Team,
Car was sitting untouched for about two weeks and when I went to finally use it, I found the shifter all wonky.

For some reason, my shifter is now loose and doesn't lock into place. I can shift from park to drive, but each gear is loose feeling and not 'locked' in place as it was before and there's a lot more play than there should be (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch wiggle).

Anyone know what this might be?

(Adding pic of shifter area with cap lifted)

Thx!
