Good point. Easy access for all isn't necessarily a good thing.

I'm old enough to remember discussion forums long before the Internet existed. We had FidoNet which was hobbyist ran dial up network. 1000's of us across the nation used dial up modems to network our PC's for games, email and forums. Lots of great forums that needed almost no moderation. It was hobbyists that respected each other. Internet ruined all that!

Reminds me of the days on the Solstice forum when there was this guy who would post insulting comments and videos about people who he disagreed with, and occasionally comment that they should be taken out and shot.

That forum got better, so maybe this one will too.

Good luck with your recruitment Druid.
This is why I limit my exposure here to once a month or so. Its just too painful to fall into the swamp of insults and bad karma. I expect better of the last admin here.

The initial post as framed was needlessly offensive and counter productive.

The inputs by the curmudgeon corps has not been helpful.

I am truly amazed that people join this forum anymore.

Its kind of like this story
ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) Central Indiana police say a Michigan man apparently set on killing himself began boring into his own skull with a power drill after he crashed his car into a highway guardrail.

Anderson Police spokesman Joel Sandefur says 29-year-old Earl Morgan III of LaPeer, Mich., was in serious condition Wednesday at an Indianapolis hospital.

Police say a witness called 911 Tuesday morning and said he'd just seen a car drive into an Interstate 69 guardrail. The caller said the driver then exited the wrecked car, removed a power drill from the trunk and began drilling into his head behind his right ear.

Police spokesman Joel Sandefur tells the Herald Bulletin police are still investigation the reasons for Morgan's apparent suicide attempts.

Tuesday's crash snarled traffic along I-69 for hours.

Ohhh, come on. You can tell me. I promise to keep it a secret!

skersfan Well it is far enough off, that retirement may be in play. My first management job was in Sumter, SC in 1970. I would love to return to the area again. Funny story, at least I thought, arriving in Columbia in 1970, I kept seeing bumper stickers Go USC and for the life of me could not figure out why all the Southern California fans were in the area. Took me a few hours/days to figure it out. DUH

Loved the Myrtle Beach area. This is one that we might get to the coast if it gets off the ground. Would love to tour the Civil War battle fields to. Now all I have to do is live long enough to get there. lol

John, Keep in mind that this event is 4 years away, and a great deal of what will need to be done can be done while sitting in front of a computer.

Mike, I am interested in helping set this up, but the odds of my attending the event are small. As suddenly came up this year (and already known for next) we do our major projects in June and July, and leaving town for a week is next to impossible. If you need map work or pre-event scouting I will be glad to do whatever I can. And who knows, I may have decided to retire by then,

To everyone else: Note that the original post has been edited, so it would be helpful to edit any posts related to the original content.

The language used will not help people understand anything other than the OP would be difficult to work with. Volunteers and attendees alike have and will question if this is who they would assist in organizing/attending an event!

Knight I attended NASSAM for the first time this year. It was loads of fun. I also saw how the organizers were really doing a lot to make the event a great thing. I would like to volunteer for the upcoming years. I am not sure I can make it to Rapid City due to distance and work, but I would be very eager to help behind the scenes if needed.

I would be interested in volunteering to help with a NASSAM in the southeastern US.
