Yup, it's the part that 38-41 connect to that has bent. Doesn't look cheap or easy!

Kansas Bill I have no idea how the part got bent. I don't keep anything in the trunk, and I will watch that location next time I stow the trunk.

I haven't seen the part on the drawing you attached. It is the part where the buttress locking pin is attached.

The top is starting to show its age - not bad, but less than perfect. In the old days I would have probably attacked this project, but I have quit working on my cars, due to health issues. I'm old, lol.

LAC Sky How did it get "bent" in the first place?
When storing the top in the trunk, not folding properly, something in the trunk preventing this?

Your said you had this happen once before.. in the spring.
Same type of problem? Mis-alignment of the buttress pins to securely lock in place?

Your can make certain adjustments to the top/frame, if it is out of alignment.
However if the frame is bent, then things could get interesting here.
New OEM ones cost a fortune, if you can find them?
Last quote I had was $3300.00 bills, but that was several years ago. I have no clue to what
they cost now. A salvaged one from the local salvage yard could be had, if you can find a fair price.
Then removing it, transporting it to home base garage, then removing your old bent/broken one and...
replacing it with the salvaged one is the tricky part here.

I think there is/was a thread on the forum about this. Solstice site, Rob the Elder maybe? I remember
a conversation with him about this issue. I found this thread: 19152957 top no frame by Emmett on 02/28/19.

We have a series of posts showing removing and replacing the top on PunisheR on the sol forum. two people, two hours. Very straightforward. You can pull the top in your garage, continue to drive your car while you deliver your top to the repair shop.

There is also a thread with lots of pictures where we fully disassembled a used top. A top autopsy. Having done that, I would not want to install a new canvas cover on my existing frame but I am told that people who do this for a living will do it but think more about $500 in labor.

If I were having this done I would replace the side sliding cables as they get a lot of wear and are relatively easy to replace when disassembled.

There is at least one shop in California who advertises Solstice and Sky top replacement. Ship it to someone who knows what they are doing.

* Go to the Solstice site, find this thread that ROBte is talking about.

This is what I call, part of the Big 3 for the Kappa, (1) Motor. (2) Top canvas/frame. (3) Body panels. Expensive.
Break out another thousand dollars give or take.

Only help I can offer here is some parts drawings of the top frame, but no break down of what can be
adjusted. There might be some info in the factory PDF on body panel adjustments?

Kansas Bill On second look, the problem was that the end of the buttress was bent back. Good news- it bent back to position easily. Bad news - it bent back easily, and may break if this happens again.

Kansas Bill I had this once before in the spring, but it has been okay since, until today The top is normally down, and the rain is over, so top will be going down. I'll get the appropriate driver for the next time the top goes up.

If it did work, and now it doesn't, you may just have something stuck, or it is possible that the cable has gotten mis-routed.

Kansas Bill Never mind, I found the answer: https://www.skyroadster.com/forums/f...estions-94475/ I need to get the proper driver for the adjustment screws.

Buttress adjustment?

I had to put the top up in a rain shower, and now the drivers side buttress won't reach to the attachment point. Is there an adjustment, or special technique for this?
