Two LT1 V8's Blown by Car and Driver
I'm interested if anyone on this forum is aware of this issue and has any additional information.
Car and Driver uncovers trouble with Corvette Stingray's LT1 V8 - Autoblog
Of particular note, in my Jan 2015 issue of C&D the editors state that BOTH of their long term test vettes blew engines, and both were reportedly due to defective oil filters.
What is not clear is if those filters were from the assembly line parts bin or from a later oil change. The above article mentions the engine was repaired under warranty, suggesting it was either a factory oil filter or a GM filter provided by GM or a GM authorized service provider.
Two bad filters....two blown engines....there has to be more to this story than we're hearing.
