Okay, let's try and guess how a V8 powered (Corvette LS2 engine) Sky would compare to our I4 EcoTec engine.

Advertised 0-60 for the Sky (Solstice) is 7.2 seconds, C6 Corvette (without Z51 package) is 4.6 seconds. The V8 Sky is expected to be 300 lbs lighter than the C6, but would running with the standard Sky 5-speed transmission and small footprint (18x8 compared to 19x10 rears). If the LUK clutch locks up well my guess would 4.1 seconds. Quarter-mile 12.3 seconds.

What's your guess?

I would venture to say 4 Seconds FLAT with good sticky tires and a good driver keeping the wheelspin to a minimum. :eek:

Delnari, Some corrections:

Curb Weights: (full fluids including fuel)

Stock Sky (estimated) approximately 2900 lbs.

V8 Converted Sky (estimated) approximately 3100 lbs. MAYBE as low as 3050 lbs, but I doubt it (for curb).

C6 Corvette Coupe 3179 lbs

C6 Corvette Convertible (true comparison) 3199 lbs

C6 Z06 3132 lbs.

So, a V8 Sky is only about 100 lbs lighter, no more than 150 lbs lighter than a C6 Convertible.

It's been indicated that the Sky may be a few lbs heavier than a Solstice (DON'T PANIC!!!! We're only talking about 15 lbs at most). Estimates for a V8 conversion seem to be around 200 lbs added to the car, but we'll all know more after SEMA. But I'm sure these estimates can't be too far off.

Just wanted you to get your weight differentials a bit closer.

Oh, and I'd say around 4.5 or 4.6 seconds. If lucky, maybe 4.4 seconds.

What is the redline on an LS2? The current gearing in a Sky puts it at 60 mph at about 6800 RPM and redline at or near 7000, but I don't think the LS2 revs that high, so you might have to have a 2 - 3 upshift inserted. That adds potentially another .1-.2 seconds to the 0-60, but should not affect 1/4 mi. times.
