I just put my deposit for Sky with Saturn of Stevens Creek, San Jose, Ca. :D
I am the only one on the list now. :)
I am going to cancel my Lotus Elise, #90+ on the list with SVAG, Los Gatos, CA after 13 months waiting.

Any one has Sky with rooftop "on" pic ??

welcome rolandchen. I think you are the first member to get a deposit in I think (many dealers have refused as too early).

No pics with top up yet. Top will be most likely be same as Solstice, there are a few spy pics of that on solsticeforum.com but even that has not been seen with production top yet and it's in dealer showroom this summer.

Also my avatar has a Sol pic with top up (spy shot).

Mike,

Thanks for the spy shot. It is not quite clear may be becauce of spy shot.

My dealer told me it should be powered top.

Hard to tell, no hint of power for Solstice but Sky being "higher-end" could come into play at some point as an option but for now all Saturn has publically said is manual top.

All a power top will do is take even more of the precious truck space that still remains. Yes it would be a nice feature but I'm not going to give up my last 2 cub. ft. of trunk space for it.

Besides extra space it eats up, if the Sky top is like Solstice it's a little more complex then the tops that just fold away into trunk. To finish it coming up seems to require some manual effort to attach "winglets" that extend off top into hooks on top of trunk.

Can see one of the attachment points in this picture (small round chrome thing on trunk lid)...

Yes, I can see the two winglets on the trunk lid.
I "think" the center piece behind the two seats will rise up with the rear window and the roof and unfold it.

Yes it's a rear hinge trunk (clam shell). The last step after it's unfolded and attached to the windshield header is to attach the winglets (little triangle extensions off the top) to the trunk tiedowns. At least this is what we think it will be :D

It's all still a little fuzzy until we get something official. The wing things might release automatically if you pop the trunk. Trunk probably just goes up an inch so you fold the wings back and then lift trunk fully.

Actually I think I had something backwards in putting it up too...might connect to trunk deck first and finish with locking to windshield header.

Solsticeforum FAQ has a few possibilities on top operation..

With the rooftop up, when you use the remote to open the trunk lip and you forgot to unplug the winglets tie down, what will happen ?

From what we've heard from sources is that Solstice key-fob when pressed to release the trunk it will automatically pop the AFBTS's from the anchor points. We've also come to the conclusion through one comment we've heard that the AFBTS's are also possibly spring loaded. So when released they retract inward.

In essence having the AFBTS's make it pretty much impossible to have a power top because you would still have to get out of the car to anchor them down.
