On the value and use of auto mirrors, I worked most of my working years with a company who stressed safe driving almost as a primary religion. A driving test/meeting about it every 12 months, sometimes including observed driving. We were ingrained to continually check the rear view mirrors. So my belief is not using your mirrors would undoubtedly lead to mishaps and incidents.

Also, the convex mirror is most desirable because it gives you a wider view of all things in the lane(s) behind. Thus the benefit of the convex mirror addition is a bit obvious.

So haven't we come down to cost and appearance? The SKY swap mirror at $200 being sought after, might be an expensive investment (if you can find one/two) verses the circular 1 1/2" convex add-on feature to your existing mirror from AutoZone. I think we know how that will price out, especially after departing the paint shop. And since I don't possess an enhanced right hand mirror now, I don't believe I'll invest in the left side betting on the come of the right side mirror. (might it be a better bet to just visit the casino? :willy:) OK, just too practical!

But if back when source one had the passenger mirrors, I had bought a few, I could have a set and sell the extra's to recoup my cost.

Tell you what, guys...

I looked for a very long time for the GMPP brake fluid reservoir and there it was hiding in plain sight because no one asked the right questions and found the right person. Same with these mirrors. The seller is a good and fair person, which is high praise from me as it is rare. I have no idea where Bob scored his passenger mirrors but apparently a group did show up on eBay some years back. Whether that was the source for Bob I've no idea. These were not on my radar back then. It was several posts of his I ran across researching Solstice and Sky related information that brought the 2010 big mirror to my attention.

Sometimes stuff just appears. This group of mirrors is such an event.

Now, all that said...I'm now also looking for a passenger side and...sacrilege... they will go on my GXP Solstice and it will most likely be the only one on the planet so equipped. Pretty much for all the reasons Bob stated about angle of view, not bragging rights. So, if someone is sitting on one they'd like to recoup some money on, I am a serious buyer BUT...I do not do bidding wars, so if you are fair and serious, get in touch. Like the truth used to be, these mirrors are (or may be ) out there.

Thanks to all and to all a good Easter. You can remember this one as the year the bunny brought mirrors.

It can be done JohnWR, Hoosier has done it. I guess a little tougher, but possible.

Before these were found Richard, there were only 4 sets confirmed, world wide. I have two of them. I did buy a passenger side mirror from Source One, so this is what I have been waiting for. I did not buy a bunch of them though. My error I guess. But I am not about making money off of this stuff. I just feel they are such a safety improvement everyone should have them. For me they make that much difference. Norbert GT saw the 2010 Opel with them, and he actually sat in the car and like me, was totally amazed.

Marvic was the individual that bought them at the plant closing party. He bought three sets, I bought 2 sets and a guy from Texas bought the other set. 1 set I guess went on the only 2010 Opel GT to make it to Europe. I don't think Marvic ever put them on his car.

I will revive the post every so often so those that bought the passenger side are aware of the driver side being available. Will let you know if I hear of anyone with the passenger mirror. They were on Source one for quite awhile if I remember correctly.

Much larger view area and seems to have a different bend to the glass to make it see a wider area behind you.
The wide angle glass on mirrors is common on EU-spec cars. I did a quick search and I found these stick-on covers that promise to give you the same effect for the 07-09 mirrors. My Saab has the wide-angle glass as standard and yeah, it's useful, I guess?

To be honest I think the stock mirrors work fine, though. I reverse into a tight spot where I must park the car about 6" from a wall on the passenger side to park it, and it hasn't been a problem.

I do bidding wars, best way to determine a fair price and serious buyers. Not those looking to buy low at what they think is a "fair" price.

Oh and I'll be interested in a passenger mirror.

Problem with a fixed price.. MM thinks $200 is a rip off, richard thinks its a fair price.. some think its a low price.

I had several old messages when this was going on. Offering me close to 1000.00 for a confirmed set. Had no thought of selling them then, and none now.

With these you have almost double the mirror space, the EU spec doubled. I don't care about the backing, I care about the freeway speeds and the motorcycles splitting traffic. The wife needs the mirrors when she backs up, she hates the stock mirrors. The Uglyrock will get a set of these now. Again thanks Richard!!

I have had them on the cars for so long, they look totally normal. I can virtually guarantee, you would not notice them on a car if the person who had them did not tell you. In our club, San Diego Sky and Solstice Roadsters, my nick name is Mr. Mod. Eric the president of the club always inspects my car to see what I have done. He spent 20 minutes looking at it and never noticed them. He has a Solstice NA and a GXP Coupe. They don't stand out in any way.

I honestly only put them on to see how they would look. I thought they were too big, ad would look out of place. But once they were on, no way were they ever coming off. I might try to take some pictures of the difference from the view in the car. Doubt it will work, but might.

The more sets that are put together the less valuable the three I have are, but as I have said many times, it is a safety improvement. Every one of our cars should have came with them. I would bet if the car had made it another two years, they would have been on the car.

I still race mountain bikes, ride 50 miles a week, do world class off road 4x4 trails. My head turns just fine. lol

One of the reasons I stopped coming on here sooo much was because I buy things I don't need...like a Euro Spec LH mirror! Thanks skersfan!

Now anybody got a RH Euro spec mirror for sale???

I love the look of the normal designer Solstice mirrors and am young enough to turn my head. :)
Now there is proof of young and dumb... Doesn't need mirrors cause he is gonna turn my head around to see if the lane next to me is clear. Mirrors with good coverage are a key safety feature.

Not sure what the point of your post is also. Why would you come on a thread about a part a lot of people are interested in and post that you don't need them.

Good for you, but others like the look and want the better vision.

Hey! I warned you if you did not have the passenger side, it would most likely not be a good investment. I wish I had bought more of the passenger side ones. I did buy two extra of these, so if down the road someone needs them, I will have them.

Yep, you did indeed ;)

I know the factory LH mirror is useless to me so maybe this won't be so bad if it's paired with a factory RH mirror.

Of course you will notice it. But I doubt anyone else will. Hard to look at both of them closely. I thought about doing just the opposite on the NA I am working on. My other half needs all the help she can get backing up. Has ran into more things, cars, building and other things than I can count. I am sure I will put a back up camera stereo in it before lone. lol

The back up camera in my Grand Cherokee is in-valuable! Plus it's got that "stop the car if something's behind you" doo-dad (Crosspath detection}. That's what she may need most of all...haha

After replying to my post about the faded door panels I remembered I needed new speakers as well. I went back to Ebay and the seller graciously cancelled my purchase on the mirror. I had almost purchased a Source-One RH mirror year or so ago but didn't.

EDIT: Back to lurking for me and no more impulse purchases when I've been day drinking!

Now there is proof of young and dumb... yeah at 90 mph down the freeway, gonna turn my head around to see if the lane next to me is clear.. Uhmm no.
I have my stock mirrors setup so that I can see completely around the car without turning my head. No blind spots in the lanes next to me. Just a quick glance sideways to make sure no one is directly next to me.

Even so I check over my shoulder before making a lane change. Takes a tenth of a second to glance over. If you don't have enough space in front of you and have not been looking far enough ahead of the car in front of you to know you have that kind of time to do a blind spot check, you are following too close or not paying proper attention.

I will agree the big mirrors give a LOT more vision and don't stand out with the overall look of the car. GM did a nice job on them. I still like the smaller mirrors better aesthetically.

You seem to interpret the poster differently then I did. He seemed to imply he didn't need mirrors as he could look around. But also if your mirrors have good coverage so you have no blind spot there is no need to look around. Trust your mirrors.
Also if your not using your mirror (as the poster implied to me) you would be spending more than a tenth of second.

I'm not going to debate the benefits of mirrors that give better coverage. It is an interesting phenomena of the internet, where people feel the need to join a conversation about something they don't want just to say. I don't want them, that makes me better than you.

I mean could you imagine being at a party talking about the newest motorcycle helmet, and someone stops in and says motorcycle helmets those are dumb just drive a car.:willy:

Over here people are taught to always turn their head, driving slowly in town or as fast as your car can go on the highway. Main reason is the dead spot in the mirrors and making sure nothing is next to you.

You will not pass your driving test, and never get a license, when telling the instructor turning your head is only for young and dumb people.
Cleared up my original post as many seemed to ignore the post I replying to. Of course you turn your head. I am pretty sure over there you also are required to have mirrors, Actaully as proof that these were made for the EU region, you are required to have mirrors that have much better coverage than US. So if you think you have blind spots (which with properly set up mirrors you shouldn't) In the US we have even bigger ones.

And for those who thing you should see the side of your car in the mirrors, here is the proper way to setup your side mirrors.
Side-view mirrors
To adjust the driver’s side-view mirror, place your head against the left side window and set the mirror so you can just barely see the side of the car in the mirror’s right side.
To adjust the passenger’s side-view mirror, position your head so that it is just above the center console. Set the mirror so you can just barely see the side of the car in the left side of the mirror. If the vehicle is not equipped with remove mirror-adjustment controls, you may need assistance when properly positioning this mirror.
