FUN FACTS for your journey to Regionals this year.
If you're coming in from Canada via Montana into Idaho take HWY 12 it follows the old Lewis and Clark Trail along the Lochsa (pronounced Lock-saw) & Clearwater Rivers. It's a very beautiful drive over LoLo Pass and these 2 rivers merge just east of your final destination with the confluence of the Snake River in the Lewiston, ID/Clarkston, WA Valley. The Snake River continues its journey to the Columbia River and finally the Pacific Ocean!

If you're coming in from California or Oregon, stop by and see Crater Lake.
It's the deepest lake in the United States and is formed in the remains of an ancient volcano.

FUN FACTS for your journey to Regionals this year.
The area that is today occupied by Idaho was a stop along the passage to the Pacific by Lewis and Clark. So Rugged was the interior through which Lewis and Clark had to pass that it took them two separate attempts to successfully penetrate the expanse.
Thankfully the roads to get here have been improved quite a bit since then. Enjoy the journey!

The deepest gorge on the continent of North America is not the Grand Canyon.
Hell's Canyon is located in Idaho and reaches down 8,000 feet. It's about 1,000 feet deeper than the Grand Canyon.
A stone tossed from the highest part of Hell's Canyon would not reach the ground until the person who tossed the rock had counted to 30, according to "Atlas of America".
We'll be starting some of our runs from the confluence of the Snake & Clearwater Rivers, where Hell's Canyon can be accessed by jetboats to cruise into the deepest parts of Hell's Canyon!

The highest point in Washington state is Mount Rainier. It is named after Peter Rainier, a British soldier who fought against the Americans in the Revolutionary War.

We're currently at 29 cars and counting. Can we get to 40?

The one fact about Idaho that most people seem to be familiar with is that it is home to the most famous potato crops in the world. More potatoes are raised in Idaho than any other similarly sized region in the world.
But, most of that is grown in southern Idaho.
Here in Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington, we grow the most peas & lentils in the inland northwest. Along with wheat, barley and oats. Enjoy the views while coming in from southern or northern Idaho.

During the Great Depression, a series of hydroelectric dams were constructed along the Columbia River as part of a project to increase the production of electricity.
This culminated in 1941 with the completion in Washington state of the Grand Coulee Dam, the largest dam in the United States.
