I replaced my in-tank pump for the 2.0 a couple of years ago. Having the old pump, I took it apart. There are two filters in the pump. A sock/screen that attaches to the inlet/bottom of the actual pump and a finer canister filter that surrounds the pump. From here it goes up to the engine fuel rail, no other inline filters.
The other interesting thing is the fuel filter is always cooled by a bowl of fuel, which is fed by a Venturi on the bottom of the plastic bowl. So unless the fuel tank is actually empty, the pump will not overheat.
