OK, this is probably a stupid question, but here it goes...Are the sky's equipped with an Alarm System?

if you will look at the standard featurs a content alarm is included, it blows the horn and flashed the lights if the door or trunk is opened without either the key or the remote entry...
Also it uses "smart key" technology. Teh engine will not start unless the correct key is used. It electronically locks up

Skyman and Rick, thank you for that info!..
By the way, not a stupid question....:D

Just a little follow up. IF the "content alarm" is set via the Remote Keyless Entry "RKE", the horn will give a few pre chirps before going into full alarm mode if the DRIVER'S SIDE door is opened (say the window was down and someone just pulled up on the doorlock thing and then opened the door, or instead of using the RKE, someone stuck a key in the door to unlock it).

If the PASSENGER'S side door is open with the content alarm armed, the alarm will sound instantly.

Keys: They have little electronic transponders in them. You can have a key cut to match you original key and it will unlock the door. It will also go into the ignition and turn the key, BUT THE CAR WILL NOT START UNLESS THE NEW KEY HAS BEEN PAIRED WITH THE CAR. This is a simple process, simply start the car with a working key (one that the dealer gave you when you bough the car), then turn off the car and insert the new key into the ignition and turn the key WITHIN 5 SECONDS. The car will learn the new key and then start the car.

This is great info - thanks. Is this pretty standard or just Sky? Saturn?

I'll be upgrading the alarm. keep in mind, it doesn't have a shock sensor. If someone hits your car in the parking lot, it won't go off to let everyone around know just what happened and shame them into not driving off. (if people around even pay attention is another issue)
it also wont protect your top from being sliced so they can steal your stereo or break open the glove box (we all know how solid that is) and take more of your stuff.

obviously, you won't want to leave anything valuable in a convertible anyway but it would be nice to at least make them think twice before cutting the top to find that you have nothing to steal anyway. your still out a for a new top.

or just do what some have suggested and what some people I work with do and that is to leave it unlocked. so at least they don't have to cut the top to get in. Once they are in, they will see you have nothing to steal and hopefully leave.
Just installed an alarm. Shock sensor, pager, and interior motion sensor. It now chirps 3 times when someone gets close to the car. Im in a city so the sensitivity was tuned down so the person has to be within 1-2 feet of the car. If you stick your hand in the cockpit it goes off . Of course door entry and hood entry set it off too. A pager notifies me someone is messing with Dark SKY.
Alarm

My Mustang has a red light in the dash that flashes alarm when set (came that way). My husbands had an alarm put into his Mustang with a little blue light installed in top of the dash. At night people walking by can see the light. I am thinking I would like to have that light in my Sky. Noone has ever
messed with his car.
I still cant leave mine alone...........

I am the alarm system.........:D

This car is equipped with passlock, you can not learn keys in the key cylinder. they have to be programed by the dealer. ford keys can be done this way but not GM. Passlock will hold this code for about ten seconds so if the car is started with the working key and then you put a non programed cut key in the ign. it will start but it will not learn to the key. Passlock works with resistance and when the cylinder is turned with passlock a resistance value is sent to the passlock module. you can bypass this buy cutting the passlock wire going to the cylinder(yellow, orange/black, etc). using an ohm meter from the key side of the passlock wire to the passlock ground and turn the key. you will get a ohm value. if you the take the resistor of equal value and connect it to the car side of the passlock wire with the passlock ground the system can be bypassed. you cannot learn a key.
I use my German Shepherd as my alarm.... lol.. just kidding.... but, when he is with me.. not many decide to approach the car at all....SkyBaby-07

Well, I'm no expert. But I did what the manual said to do and my 3rd key (extra that I bought from the dealer) works the way I described above in an earlier post after I programed the car to learn the key. I tried the key before I programed it and it turn the ignition, but it would not start the car.

There appears to be different PassLock systems. I am familiar with the resister type that you described. What is in the Sky is DIFFERENT than the resister type that you described.

I programed my extra key according to the instructions in the SKY manual and it worked fine this morning, which is 3 weeks after I (yes, I, not the dealer) programed it.
u know what you might be right now that i look at the key passlock III+ im prety sure your right...
