Any dealers or sales members: I'm sure I will hear the same answer: No one will know until....but here goes: I called a dealership and the owner has two dealerships within 20miles of each other. In one store they have a list of 4 and in the other they had none! I will be first on that dealerships list, which sounded great, but when I called the "sister" dealership, they stated "Saturn will be giving 2 cars per "market", this would mean that even if I was number 1 with the other dealership, i would be #5 in that market? This crap is killing me! You would think it would be 2 cars per "dealership"! What do you think, should I drop the deposit ($500.00) and roll the dice?

I'd put my money down. And I did a couple of months ago. Better to be #5 than not at all. As long as you can get your money back and $500 isn't going to kill you sitting for that time go for it.

In previous posts it was suggested that allocations would be based on the market area. Some areas would get more and others might not get any. Really depends... do roadsters sell well in your market? How many units does your dealership move in a month? A year?

At this point it is all speculation. Even on the part of the dealers. We all seem to be finding that the dealers know little about the Sky. Allocation numbers quoted by a dealer are pure wishful thinking from what I have heard.

I would say that with the apparent demand and the low numbers projected for production, if you want one PUT MONEY DOWN. You probably won't get one otherwise.

Hmmm 2 cars per market sounds kinda iffy. As far as we know official allocations are not out yet, so sounds like they're mkaing something up. Especially since there are far less Saturn dealerships then Pontiac, they should be getting far more then that.

However I have heard things about if they're the same dealerhsip within a certain range of each other they do count as one.

My recommendation is that you get those numbers out of your head. Like Kappa said in another email, orders have not been requested by Saturn yet. Your deposit (I'm pretty sure) ensures you will get a car. That whole spot thing???? Have ANY OF YOU seen a list from where you put your deposit down, a list of those waiting as well??? HMMMMM, think about it, that's private information... even a name. So, ummm, this is what your dealer is telling you, right???? And you're gonna park out at Saturn as the cars come in every day? And watch people drive them off.... each day? Be patient, and be grateful that Saturn's coming out with such a sharp car, and you (at some point) will be getting one.

Cheers

Waiting List

Angel,

I put down $1K and was told I was 3rd at the dealer. Yes, I did wonder if that really meant anything, but somewhere you just gotta trust people. If that makes me foolish, well, it won't be the first time. I might be a bit naive (even at 60 y.o.), but I would rather trust my fellow man than always be cynical.

So, from now until the cars start arriving, I will make my presence known to the dealer and hope for the best.

When I put my deposit down I asked the Manager now what does that mean, He said I would be the second one at that dealership that will get to order the Sky. Now the person that was in front of me, I was told went ahead and bought a ION Redline and has dropped from the list. Now that makes me number one, and again I was assured i will be the first to order a Sky.. Not necessarly the first to recieve because of options I may order compaired to the second person on the list... just like with the Solstice, some that have low VIN numbers are getting their cars later than others with higher numbers...

The list hangs in my new car managers office. The same new car manager that orders all our vehicles. All sales conultants are aware of this list also. I am doing the best I can by my customers....

I'm told that dealers can take orders on Sept 12th in my area with $500.00 down and an approved credit App. cars will be delivered sometime in March.

Yes, folks with deposits have priority. Some people did not want to give deposits, so I took that as a measure if their intentions.

one more Question, If Saturn has some sort of promotion like Pontiac did will you give preference to those that have deposits?, or will it be evey buyer for themselves like it seemed to be with pontiac...

to be honest i think thats the way it should be. if your interested in teh car then put some cash down to show your serious. if you just want a name on a list and then dont put coin down on it then id skip that person and go to the first person who put cash down for it. id take that person more seriously then the name with no flow. thats me though.

Just to point out some things that happened with the Solstice. Having the deposit and sign-up lists in the end really did nothing to determine who ended up with one of the EOP 1000 cars or real order in the program. The positive side of the EOP program was that these were 1000 cars pretty much garunateed to get into the hands of buyers without markup of any type by dealership markups or shinanigans. This more then likely helped keep dealers from holding all of the cars hostage for marked up prices. We're seeing most dealerships taking GM/Pontiacs words to heart and they're keeping the car at MSRP.

However you should still get yourself on a waiting list with a deposit. If Saturn does an EOP type program, and you don't end up with one being on a list will get you setup in line after that.

Let's hope that Saturn does not do things Pontiacs way! I think I have done everthing possible to ensure that Delnari is getting the first darn SKY that I can order! I had to draw the line at signing a Buyer's Order in blood. The pinky swear was okay by me, tho....
Cheers,
Jill :)
One more thing...Hey Del? the local cops have asked that you PLEASE stop camping out in front of the facility! Or at least clean up all the coffee cups and newspapers when you leave...
