Barb and I both had the day off and in the late morning decided to take a drive. We headed out of tracy to the 99 and then north to the 4. the ride got better and better and we went through farmington and hit some nice winding roads and entered Angels Camp for lunch at a Perko's. with a window seat we got great fun from watching the people stare at the car and walk around it:lol:
After a great lunch and it only being 2:15 we headed back out and took the 18 mile road to Sonora, again a great little enclave of stores, bistro and interesting sites. There's a Casino right up the road from there also if that's interesting as a stop!
After hanging out there for a while we came back through the town of Oakley and Manteca on the 120 and back onto the I-5. Now we arrived at home at 5:45 even with the rush hour because we traveled against the flow.
For a five or six hour trip this one has a lot going for it.
Beautiful countryside, windy roads, great little towns, good eating spots all over and lots of Victorian homes to look at in a few of the towns.
Really a great trip for a day or if you rent a hotel or B and B in Sonora for the weekend!

Sounds like a fun trip, did you head to Jackson casino or maybe Black Oak? I have been through Murphy's a couple of times and the roads there are great to drive around. I think the windy scenic roads in Napa are at the top of my list for places to visit again. I can't get enough of that part of california!

If you are going to plan a trip, we should do it pretty soon, it rained in a couple parts of NorCal last week.
