If the blades are turned by the air moving across it - wouldn't that slow the air down not speed it up - since it is providing some amount of resistance?

the whole thing is a joke. I had to share it. That has got to be the dumbest product I have even seen tried to be marketed.

How dare you say it's a joke? Did you read the description?
The Single Propeller Of Turbo Fan Intake Fuel Saver spins with the engine speed while generating a maximum force that creates powerful airflow into the combustion chamber at high speed. The propeller sucks the airflow into the combustion chamber at a higher speed resulting atomized burning which increase horse power and saves gasoline.
I got one for my car and it increased power by about 20 and mileage by 30 parsecs!

Oh man!!! wish I had seen this earlier:banghead: Just bought a Flux capacitor. Supposed to increase performance by +/- all of time:thumbs:

Got mine in amber to match interior lights.

Know when you go to e bay now they have all those things below that kinda/sorta resemble what you have looked for.
That thing has got to be the cats meow cause it was number one down there.

Tsoup.. Didn't mean to insult yours,,,

The part i like the best is, if it does not fit and its to small, they supply a rubber with it.. Gasket restricting the air flow some more.

Wish they had comments under e bay stuff where we could post.
Sorry guys,, that was just to dog gone funny not to share.

Yes yes

I realize that - but I think I have seen this product on TV - so the product itself it not a joke or fake product - the idea that it might actually work is right up there with my wife's latest idea that she wants to get in touch with a long distance healer who can help treat everything from cancer (melanoma in my wife's case) to broken bones simply by calling them up and paying some amount of $ per minute. Last time I checked broken bones heal if all you do is still still wait a month or so. She doesn't know why I don't believe in it and says that I have no evidence that it doesn't work. I also have no evidence that putting a banana in my ear wont keep alligators away and as much as I really don't want to be eaten by alligators you don't see me walking around with a banana in my ear. :willy:

Those things are expensive on eBay, especially since they don't include the plutonium! Oh wait, I see they use AA batteries

Nope but I bet I know just the one your talking about. :)
It was actualy on Myth Busters.
Electric turbo fan. our new found wonder turbo on e bay there is not electric. Its free spinning.. Thats whats making it so crazy.

They put the electric turbo on a old car. Was motor driven. Can't remember what it was but the car made 62whp.. Might of been a honda. not sure. The electric fan did produce about i think it was 2.5 or 3 more whp but they were having a blast with the thing.
They upped the voltage on the motor to 15v to get it to spin faster and it make something like .02 more.

Just thought it was funny.

I love this stuff.

Great fun to play with, except those pesky laws of thermodynamics always seem to get in the way.

At least the electric turbocharger has the real ability to increase MAP.
(Granted the amount of energy consumed equals or exceeds the amount gained.)

But the stupid free spinning fan in the intake is just beyond ridiculous. Not only is it actually sucking energy out of the equation like a fricken vampire, but you are creating turbulence in the intake that will most likely fubar a modern MAF.
(Maybe that is why the vid is installing on an old car?)

I"m sure its made in china or somewhere over sea's but makes you wonder how much money was spent on designing and somewhere to produce that joke.

Thats one for the record books ,,,,,,,,,,,,show-nuff....

This looks like a variation on a product back in the fifties that was supposed to save gas. It was a plate that looked like the restricter plate used by Nascar under the carburetor, only with little free spinning blades in the holes. The theory was the spinning blades would super atomize the gas and make the combustion more efficient. Voodoo science or gimmick I suspect.

Here is a real use of electric turbo chargers:

Driven: 2012 Audi A6 3.0 Bi-TDI electric biturbo Prototype - Fourtitude.com

Notice that Audi is incorporating the electric system purely to eliminate "turbo lag" from the conventional turbo system. There is no "gain" of power, just a "fill in the gap" during conventional turbo lag. Again, those pesky laws of thermodynamics just keep getting in the way.
