Automatic Transmission Info!!!

OK, here is what I know about this...

On every allocation batch GM is authorizing the acceptance of a small percentage of Automatic Transmissions on a 1st come 1st serve basis so only those dealers who order their image early (as soon as they get it) with an Auto will have the chance to fall within those who came 1st and where served 1st and will be allowed to order them.

My suggestion here is that the person in charge of placing orders at the store you are ordering from needs to be aware of this and be ON THE BALL as soon as they get the image available and send it in. There is no way to know if in this 2nd batch there will be Autos available but there is a really good chance that if they ARE available they will be offered in the same fashion.

We had these types of restraints on the two-tone interior and chrome wheels (once they finally became available) that caused a lot of headaches for people. At the begining GM had a 10% constraint I believe on the two-tone which really hurt a lot of orders since that option was very popular.
Thanks for this great bit of info!

I just sent the sales manager an e-mail asking him about this info. I'm a patient person, but I want my SKY as soon as I can order it. He promised me the first auto trans SKY he can order, so I'll do whatever I can to make sure he gets me one!

Thanks Sky Dealer! You are an absolute wealth of information! This gives me a great deal of hope!:)
Which automatic transmission is it. The 4-speed auto that has been around for a number of years, or the new GM 6-speed automatic with the paddle shifters. That would be worth paying a lot extra for.

Neither , It is a 5 speed automatic... No paddle shifters...
In conversation with the Mfg. Rep at my local dealer, (Vancouver WA), he stated that the first 10% of production was coming out first and then... they would start production of the automatic Sky. Since I want an Automaic, he told me my car wuld most likely be delayed about two weeks from the first product (Stick Shift).
A bigger concern is the allotment of the Sky per dealership. Im number 11 but the dealership only received an allotment for 2 cars in January. It appears I will not order until late April or May. Depending on you number, you might want to ask about this.
The automatic from the Cadillac CTS (5L40E.) When used in the CTS it has driver input shift control for shifting it like a manual transmisstion. The GM WEB site states “The tap-up/tap-down capability allows the driver to manually select gears by momentarily moving the gear lever forward or backward in a manual shift gate.” :)
Yeah, the CTS is the only car using that diff that has tap shift though. I don't think we'll see tapshift for a while if it ever makes it to this car any time soon.
I've been driving automatics so long that I'm loking forward to the manual shifting of the past. Paddle shifting I think I would like but baby steps:lol:   Maybe when my arm gets tired.
