I went to the auto show this weekend and noticed the new heavy duty GM trucks with the Allison transmission have a “manual mode.” This mode allows you to manually shift the transmission with buttons on the shifter. The auto transmission for the Solstice is the same model to as the Cadillac CTS. That transmission has a “ Driver Shift Control” for the CTS that allows manual control of the transmission. What are the chances of the Sky having the Driver Shift Control like the CTS.

Since my wife wants the automatic, the one you described on the Cadillac would be nice indeed. I searched the Solstice gallery and could not find any shots of the "automatic" only the stick. Sure would be nice to see one. It may or may not be the same on the SKY.

Because there are no automatic Solstices. There wont exist one till early next year.

The Solstice and Sky will use the Hydra-Matic 5L40-E Transmission (M82/MX5). I highlighted the M82 since that's teh varient that will be used. The MX5 is the AWED version. Next year you can find this transmission in the following cars.
  • Cadillac CTS (M82)
  • Cadillac SRX (M82/MX5)
  • Cadillac STS (M82/MX5)
  • Pontiac Solstice (M82)

Only the CTS will start offering Driver Shift Control according to GM, and this will be the first year it is offered. I really don't think we'll see it on the Solstice or Sky the first years it's out. Both cars are still bargain bin Roadsters.
